eww. One of the nastiest beers ive ever drank. My friends brother gave it to my buddy, then he gave it to me becuase it was too gross to finish. Tasted way too much like laundry detergent and battery acid for me to gut. It also gave me pretty bad heartburn Disgusting. HumuloneRed (751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 17, 2005
Murky dark copper with a nice tan head and great lacing. Big plum/raisin malt nose. Malt up front with a great bitter back ground. Lots of lingering bitterness. Very smooth and silky texture. Good beer. fatty (363) - Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2005
Had this one straight from the bottle. Malty aroma with a strong, bitter hoppy flavor that kicks you in the mouth. Lingering hop flavor that lasts and lasts. Good beer if you are ready for a smack in the head. Zeswaft (1773) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 10, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2005 Rerate. There’s just too much noticeable alcohol in this beer. Arrogant Bastard is better.
I came across this at a tiny wine store in Roanoke Virginia and couldn’t believe my eyes. Never had anything quite like it. Pours reddish brown and offwhite head. Malt dominates but a strong hop bitterness is present. Reminds me a lot of Sierra Nevada bigfoot barleywine. Alcohol present in after taste. Outstanding

Bottle. Good brew. Dark brown hazy hue with a average frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and smoky tone. Flavor is heavy with a long bitter finish. Medium to full body with a moderate alcohol finish.

Deep, Amber, Ruby Red. Tan, off-white head. Malt aroma with an alcohol-nut profile, somewhat brandy-like. Sweet malt blended nicely with a nice alcohol kick. Hops kick in afterwards, bitterness mixing nicely. OOps, well, my gums are numb now, and i am having trouble typing. This is delicious, potent stuff. Very alcoholic, and it shows in the taste and aroma. I think masochists will love, and serious strong ale lovers too. mrnutsnbolts (204) - anywhere usa, - MAY 6, 2005
Bottle. Pours a reddish brown color with a very bubbly tan head. Caramelly malty aroma. Strong malt flavor with a sweet hoppy finish. You can definately taste the alcohol, but it’s much smoother than I expected for something so potent. Great stuff! braudimusprime (75) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 5, 2005
Pretty much the ultimate strong ale. Pours a pretty deep red with an off-white head. Sweet malt aroma and initial flavor, giving way to a strong bitterness with an alcoholic kick. Definitely not for the faint of heart, swirls and moves in the mouth while the malts do their thing. Cheers to Stone for producing this beast. bsawatzky (153) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2005
i have to say that i like the arrogant bastard over the double bastard. the double has too strong an alcoholy flavor which overpowers the others. a bit sweet with nice hoppiness. a decent beer. jfm (1724) - Holbæk, DENMARK - MAY 3, 2005
Amber color with a beige head. The taste is a sweet malty body with a massive hoppy flavor coming in to dominate. Very nice
