4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
pours copper, large, rocky, tan head. alcohol, citrus, flowers, caramel, toffee, apricot, mango, butterscotch, earth. very bitter, medium sweetness. full body, thick, creamy feel, soft carbonation, bitter and dry finish.
2015 Bottle at home, shared with the Beast, 13th January 18. Pours dark mahogany brown, not much head. Aroma is cararmel, dark fruit and malt. Taste is complex, bitter and sweet, loads of malt, caramel and older hops, giving some great bitterness still. Reminded us both of Brewdog Hardcore a little, with more malt. Not overly sweet and a great beer, that drank below the 11.0 ABV. rand (1920) - SWITZERLAND - JAN 6, 2018
Dress garnet speckled by yeast, clear tobacco of East foam. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel and the litany of US hops in all their magnificence. Powerful taste, doesn't exactly have a gentle touch, bitter size above XXL. There is burnt, astringency, cough syrup, candied fruits, overdosed alcohol, pharmaceutical fluid. A little too much, you sait arrogant .. snowcrash000 (98) - Cologne, GERMANY - JAN 1, 2018
Pours a deep, dark amber coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of caramel malt, toffee, red berries citrus and pine. Taste follows the nose, with a caramel, biscuity malt backbone and some toffee, chocolate and red berries, complemented by hoppy notes of citrus and pine. This really is an Imperial Arrogant Bastard, which really piles on the malt, without losing much of the hops. Depth of flavor seems more intense compared to normal AB, especially when it comes to the malt presence and fruitiness. Hop profile seems a little more mellow, although there still is considerate piney bitterness (this may be due to the 26 months old bottle). The higher ABV is noticeable as a slight, warming presence, but there really is no unpleasant boozyness to this at all. What really needs to be highlighted compared to normal AB is the thick, smooth mouthfeel, which is absolutely sublime. Nische (2661) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 6, 2017

From Mar 2008
his one pours a clear red with a 1 finger head of foam which shrinks during the session to a fine layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is very malty with lots of caramel. Nice. There's also a fairly faint, compared to the malt, nose of hops.
The taste has notes of caramel malt up front followed by some fruit(black cherry), and citrus and piney hops and a pretty big dose of alcohol.
Lots of warming during and after the swallow.
The more sips I take, the less I notice the alcohol and now I'm able to really start focusing on the flavours and man, it's so tasty and so well balanced that I don't want the bottle's contents to leave. *Very* nice sipping Strong Ale and with its creamy smooth mouthfeel and nicely done light carbonation, this is certainly a great brew worthy of its reputation. Highly recommended.

3 liter Bottle at the Aaahhh...øl!!! Julebord 2016. Dark orange body with a small head. Aroma of raisin, ashes, orange. Taste is bitter, grassy, with tangerine, pulp, hay. Very on the grassy side, though an enjoyable beer. Antonio369 (244) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 5, 2017
65 cl bottle, served in a snifter. Poured hazy amber with a light tan three finger head. Aroma: candy, overripe banana, pineapple, caramel. Taste: toffee, butterscotch, cotton candy, overripe banana, pineapple, raisins, ginger, vanilla, spices, christmas cake, raisin bread, roasted nuts, cloves. Thick and quite spicy mouthfeel. Medium to full body with a very nice more bitter than sweet finish. Also a lingering gingery spiciness in the long finish. Alcohol nicely hidden. Tastes like a barley wine, especially 'Bommen en Granaten' by 'De Molen' is almost identical to this. But a really fantastic brew on its own! Really enjoying this...
