It pours a nice rich dark red with a one inch foamy white head which lasts a considerable while. Lots of hops are seen floating throughout the body. The smell is sweet malts up front and in the beginning and as the beer warms more hops comes out. The taste follows the smell and becomes increasingly hoppy bitter and yet citrusy sweet, becoming very powerful. The palate is about a medium to perhaps heavy, some slight lingering sharpness coming out slightly strong near the end of the beer. Overall, this is a complex beer and pleasing beer that I would absolutely come back to.

his one pours a clear red with a 1 finger head of foam which shrinks during the session to a fine layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is very malty with lots of caramel. Nice. There's also a fairly faint, compared to the malt, nose of hops.
The taste has notes of caramel malt up front followed by some fruit(black cherry), and citrus and piney hops and a pretty big dose of alcohol.
Lots of warming during and after the swallow.
The more sips I take, the less I notice the alcohol and now I'm able to really start focusing on the flavours and man, it's so tasty and so well balanced that I don't want the bottle's contents to leave. *Very* nice sipping Strong Ale and with its creamy smooth mouthfeel and nicely done light carbonation, this is certainly a great brew worthy of its reputation. Highly recommended.

65 cl bottle, served in a snifter. Poured hazy amber with a light tan three finger head. Aroma: candy, overripe banana, pineapple, caramel. Taste: toffee, butterscotch, cotton candy, overripe banana, pineapple, raisins, ginger, vanilla, spices, christmas cake, raisin bread, roasted nuts, cloves. Thick and quite spicy mouthfeel. Medium to full body with a very nice more bitter than sweet finish. Also a lingering gingery spiciness in the long finish. Alcohol nicely hidden. Tastes like a barley wine, especially 'Bommen en Granaten' by 'De Molen' is almost identical to this. But a really fantastic brew on its own! Really enjoying this... Bottle, 650 ml, courtesy of Max. shared with him, Simon and JFK10000. Pours amber with medium off-white head. Fruity, hops, pine, citrus, caramel, bit nutty, bit warming, sweet, bitterness in finish. Medium to full bodied. Very nice, didin't expect it to be this good.

650ml bottle. Pours a clear copper hue with a one finger with a beige head. On the nose, lots of barley wine like notes, resinous hops up front, heavy caramel malts, tropical fruit underneath, and a note that is almost like vanilla cake. Lighter bodied than expected, but sweet with some alcohol burn, resinous notes, sweet caramel malt, with mineral hopping that heads into bitterness over burnt sugar, a faint floral note, lots of eucalyptus, and the faintest hit of coffee. Un biere bruneâtre, aux reflets roux, avec peu de carbonatation et peu d’effervescence. Ca sent le sucre d’orge, le caramel, bref, c’est sucré et malté. En bouche, ca ressemble beaucoup à un vin d’orge à l’américaine, avec une certaine amertume poignante, ainsi qu’un goût assez malté, assez alcoolisé. Version 2015 vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-11 getrunken. Ok bei dem schlagen die Bitternoten im Mund nicht gleich die Zähne aus wie ich es von dem einfachen Bastard kenne. Gut gemacht, aber mehr als paar kleine Schlückchen werden es hier lieber nicht.
