One of the best of the beers in the Stone flight we sampled at the Flying Saucer back in 2011. Only now getting around to transferring the rating. Quite nice, the added vanilla character of the oak aging mellows the bastard a bit. dorain (519) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUL 8, 2017
Draft @ Stone Calm Before the Storm 2017. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter oaky aroma. Sweetish malty oaky hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter oaky finish. TheCametron (2480) - CZECH REPUBLIC - JAN 19, 2017
Keg at Stone Berlin - 2012 edition. Nice that they have special things like this on tap when you get there. Makes the journey worth while. Pours rich coppery Brown with a White head. Aroma is bursting with vanilla oak. Lots of Caramel to the taste. A little barley-wine-ish. There’s some enormous clashing flavours in here with the woody vanilla and the sweet caramel. A real sipper. Jashiu (1404) - Gdañsk, POLAND - NOV 19, 2016
Tap @Stone Brewing Berlin bar.
Amazing oakiness in the aroma.
Oak is again present in taste. Very nice addition to the ADB. In the background vanilla and nice alcohol is also present.
Overall very nice! I loved this edition!

Draft, 2012 vintage. Deep copper hue, hazy, with one finger of dense barrel-colored head. Smooth, buttery vanilla, a hint of acidic oak, caramel, orange and grapefruit peel in the nose. Rich, unique flavor. Toasted oak is prominent and is both slightly astringent and buttery. Tons of French Vanilla, toffee and burnt sugar. Hops are bigger here than in the aroma, matched in flavor by impressive bitterness. Like a stronger, better orange creamsicle spiked with whiskey. The medium body is sugary and syrupy. Mild massaging carbonation; some peppery hops. Alcohol is obvious but not overpowering. My favorite Double Bastard iteration so far. Great oak flavor with enough Bastard still peeking through. slowrunner77 (12594) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 20, 2014
oaked: "a little sweeter and less intense than the "regular" double bastard. quite a treat if you can find it! i still like the regular a little better. although the wood notes are nice, the additional sweetness and comparitive lack of punch makes this one fall just a hair short...great beer though!" 4.2
dark oak: "A surprisingly unique, but at least equally as awesome companion to Dbl Bastard and the not quite as good Oaked Dbl Bastard. The charred oak really imparts a nice sweet and smokey quality without covering up the base. Can’t say it is definitely better than regular old DB as I didn’t do a side by side, but it is a big hoppy monster tasty brew." 4.4
I’d add these seperately but they’ll just be aliased (though they are significantly different brews). daleharshman (1073) - Escondido, California, USA - AUG 20, 2014
From notes. On cask at Plan 9 Alehouse in Escondido in November 2013. Pours a nice reddish rusty brown with minimal head. AROMA of good pipe tobacco, big vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit. FLAVOR has lots of sticky toffee and caramel, big vanilla again, some dark fruit and dry oak, with some booze. Comes across as more boozy and less hoppy than the regular Double Bastard. But somehow this cask version is still smoother with a nice syrupy mouthfeel (though not much oak). I really liked this one. Tap at Stone something. Listed as 2012. Tons of oak, caramel, dark fruits. Tadte is similar but too strong on the oak. Really dry, beautiful day outside though. AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 27, 2013

:00. Clear amber color with lasting tan sheen. Toasted caramel, dry wood, pit fruit aromas. Medium-full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Nice toasted wood, vanilla, pit fruit, spicy caramel flavors with a warming finish__very tasty.
