Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Black, moderate to large pillowy beige head, nice lacing.   Nose of roasted malts, slight dark pitted fruit, perhaps some soy.   On the tongue it seems to have more soy and figs than the
nose suggested.   Bready roasted malts, graham cracker, some toffee.   This is pretty tasty.   Not all that bitter or overly roasty.   Its like a very darkened Dubbel.   Body and mouthfeel are smooth, albeit moderate.
Strong soy, fig, whole wheat breadiness on the finish, with softer roasted malts, graham cracker, and toffee.   Hides the 12% ABV very well.   Has a slight tart figgy/prune and sweet soy aftertaste.   Different, but

On tap at Lardo Portland. Colour...jet black with a thick mocha coloured head. Nose...musty, brown sugar, molasses and bitter fig. Deep, dark brown. Brown head. Quite dry nose of roasty chocolate and dark fruit. Booooze up front in the flavor, masking what’s otherwise a nice stout, with warm vanilla and oak over charred grains. Could use some work.

On tap at Parkway in Tacoma: big chocolaty boozy port like dessert beer. I'm a fan and I notice similarities to DM's Muddy Waters. Mild aroma and creamy palate.

A big big beer. Reminded me of The Abyss, but slightly more drinkable. Well balanced, with hops not overwhelmed. Alcohol somewhat apparent, but I was surprised to find out it was 12%. I would have guessed 9% or so. Glad I sipped it slowly. boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 26, 2012
Tap @ PCTBB... Poured jet black with a brown head. Full bodied, thick on the palate. Big and boozy with yeast spice. Significant mount of roast. The ABV strength was well masked.
