COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lulu was brewed in honor of the arrival of brewer Kyle’s second daughter, Love (pronounced “lou-vay”), and is the second in a limited series. This beer blushes with additions of hibiscus, pink peppercorn, and pink rosebuds. An earthen tartness mingles with floral and tangerine aromas, and a slight warming at the back of the mouth rounds out this saison. It’s good to meet you LuLu, welcome to the family!

DuffMan (10434) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 16, 2015
Bottle, shared with Parksy and phantomhennes. Cloudy pale straw with a lively white head that leaves a mess of lace. Perfumey and a touch lemony, herbal undertones (strangely, lemon thyme comes to mind). Peppery character becomes more evident on the palate, but there is no accompanying heat. The perfumey character maintains prominence though, so for me, as a peppercorn beer, this is a bit of a disappointment.

Bottle @ Joel Tucker’s Party Palace. Clear straw colored pour with a white head. Smells kind of soapy and quite floral. Rose, hibiscus, and a fair amount of herbs like sage and rosemary. A little bit of lemon pepper, too. Super zesty and a bit of sweet banana as well. All over the place. The flavor is kind of sharp and herbal. The pepper is quite heavy, as are the floral components. Pretty soapy, some lemon, and banana. A little bit of bread and cracker as well.

Bottle... Pours hazy and straw-colored with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Wow. I can easily break down this aroma. That’s unusual. Nothing subtle about the hibiscus, rose petals and pink peppercorns here. Also, big floral, herbal and perfume notes. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is balanced and bready, featuring a moderate amount of crusty bitterness, sweet pale grains, herbs and flora. Crisp, lightly sweet finish. <Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

marcus (10227) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 9, 2014
Bottle from haggerty. Pours pinkish blonde with a fluffy white head and a floral aroma. There is a light malt flavor with a huge load of hibiscus and a bitter perfumy finish.

12.7 oz bottle. Aroma is floral, dusty, lemony--very aromatic. Pours nearly clear light golden with faint pink undertones; has a thick pillowy white head with great retention. Taste runs the gamut from sweet, lightly tart, savory, finishing with a light bitterness. It’s floral and peppery as advertised; also, lemony, earthy, faint banana in the finish. Mouthfeel is a little foamy, a tad watery. I really like it.

500 (I think), capped. Pours a crystal clear deep bronze with rubied overtones when strongly backlit. Big fizzy platinum blonde head. Crisp dry nose showing pink peppercorns with light floral notes, some light lemon, and a bit of dry grass. Crisp light body with lively carb, almost prickly. Crisp and dry from the attack through the finish. Lightly crackery, lots of dry peppercorn, some lemon, and a bit of dry grass. Very tasty and refreshing.

BOTTLE

Appearance: Pours a vibrant amber tinted orange with a tight white head. Within the body you will see tiny bubbles rising.

Aroma: Spicy Belgian saison yeast, fresh peppercorn action, minerals.

Taste: Dry malt, spicy saison yeast, pepper corn, a bit of a rustic twang in the finish. After a few sips the peppercorn jives very well.

Mouthfeel: Modest carbonation, especially for the style. Full bodied.

Overall: I enjoy spiced saisons, and this is another one to add to my list. Didn’t get much hibiscus flavor, so I’m guessing that was more for color.

Sampler at Beer Junction in West Seattle. There is a rose hue to the beer. Otherwise, this is one of this spiced Belgians rather than Saisons and its not that good of a Belgian. There is a bit of light rose water in flavor and aroma. Otherwise, slightly too sweet, seemed underattenuated. Slick feel to the beer, flabby not crisp, clean, bright and directed. Its not horrible but no interesting.
