COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed for aging in whiskey barrels this rye ale stands strong on its own. A smokey caramel start with a subtle rye finish.

Had no idea what this was on the menu of a Yard House. Was happy and surprised this came as a smoked beer. However, aside from that it's a mess. The smoke is almost certainly fake, not smoked malts but liquid smoke. If it's not well the rest of the beer is so artificial. Sweet candy, caramel syrup but a lifeless body. Just sooooo sweet and the smoke becomes aversive by getting caught up in the sweetness.

Sweet and smoky, kind of hard to find the rye actually. Medium body. Of rye had been more present i would have most likely tasted higher.

At the source: pours mahogany with small head. Aroma is sugar, light smoke and meat. Taste is almost like a rauchbier with a light smoky aftertaste. Pretty nice. Very pleasant.

Pours a medium brown with a medium and lingering creamy head. Smells of bourbon, vanilla - a little cloying. Taste is rich and sweet, the bourbon washes the bitter away - hard to tell what the rye contributes under all the sweetness.

ACBF 2016. Poured a dark brown color with a small foamy tan head. Aroma of rye bread, caramel malt, and hints of vanilla. Taste mimics the nose.

Sample at mile with Dave, Brown or black color with medium lacinG. Smell is bold and rich with bourbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, and chocolate. Flavor was most of the same on his medium to filler bodied offering from Double Nickle.
