3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Only 2 out of the 4 Double Take beers I have are on this website. So here is the IPA. Nice (almost) 7% alcohol content. Tastes, looks, and smells like a well made IPA. I think I prefer this to the Double Take Pale Ale, the Amber Ale, and the Belgian White.
Out of a cheap mixer pack. Wasent expecting much. All the beers from the pack were very bland and shared a similar cheap taste.

I wouldn’t quite compare this beer to an IPA, but rather an easy drinking pale ale that is disguised as an IPA due to the label. Caramel is the dominant flavor right off the bat with th aroma....like smelling a caramel chew. Light floral notes, with just a smidge of pine. More caramel shows up in the flavor, but also some light citrus notes with noticeable spicy finish. The sweetness reminds me of something done on the East Coast, with the hops playing 2nd fiddle. Easy to drink all things considering. I have no clue where this is brewed though, but it sure isn’t in Novato. slowrunner77 (12895) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 26, 2014
"a throw in at the Superbowl. Didn’t know what to expext. I am sure the bottle said Rochester, NY, but all on-line info says Novato, CA. Go figure. Doesn’t matter, though, as this beer is borderline offensive across the board. hard to make an ipa this bad, but they manage. a little off hops and unpleasant malt, woth some soap in there as well. Nothing redeeming."

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- Pours a golden colored brew with a small white head. The head fades rather rapidly to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is heaviest of a bready smell and sweet citrus and tropical fruit smell. Mixed with this aroma is a little bit of a grapefruit and pine hop as well as some aromas of a caramel sweetness.
Taste- The taste begins with a doughy and somewhat sweeter taste upfront with the sweet being a blend of orange, tangerine and a bit of tropical fruits as well as some caramel. Initially there is a lighter grapefruit hop taste that begins very weak but that grows stronger more toward the end of the taste. Along with the grapefruit some notes of flavor hops as well as pine hit the tongue. Right at the end of the taste the grapefruit really steps out its game and gets quite a bit more intense in nature, combining with the rest to leave a grapefruit bitter and bready flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. Both suit the style well and match the sweeter flavors nicely while still able to support the hop and bready flavors of the brew.
Overall – A decent IPA but nothing out to the ordinary. It’s good and easy going character makes it a good standard brew for day to day consumption.

Clear golden with a medium sized white head, good lacing. Aroma of sweet malts and grassy. Taste is sweet and grassy
Awesome beer for the price. Overall, of course, its nothing special. Its what I call a Party Craft, that is, I’d bring this out when I dont want to spend a ton but obviously dont want to drink BMC beers. Better than Trader Joe’s brand. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - APR 3, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a golden orange yet fairly clean body with a one finger white foamy head that leaves a fair amount of speckled lacing.
The smell had a a fair amount of hops up front and a decent amount of hops.
The taste was balanced but mostly staying true to an AIPA style, a somewhat malty yet bitter aftertaste, sticky sweet finish.
The palate sat at a light to medium, fairly sessionable, carbonation seems subdued for its style but really just mediocre for the most part.
Overall, this is not a bad AIPA, but nothing spectacular and nothing to quickly come back to. maxwelldeux (4433) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - JAN 17, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with very little head on it. Nose is quite hoppy, but seems like it has sat on the shelf for so long that the hops have degraded into awful nothingness. Taste is bitter, but again tastes like it is well past its prime. Really not good, though I blame the store, mostly. Braudog (6836) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle. Looks exactly like their pale and amber ... even copper collor and "normal" looking. This one is slightly hoppier, but not by much. Just a little bit of an earthy, pine-bark sting ... otherwise, just a "normal" drinker without any exceptional character either way. I’m very fond of this IPA. It is different though. It is almost sweet, but still pleasantly hoppy.
