Bottle. Not as dark as expected, more chestnut as Garrat mentions. Fairly nice, with a touch of sweet raw-ish malt characters. Chocolate, caramel and licorice are in there. A touch of alcohol shows in the end. Some coffee flavours come up every now and then. reakt (950) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2007

Cask (South Western Arms, Southampton) - Brown with red tinges. Slightly vinous aroma with hints of dried fruit and roasted malt. Rich taste with hints of alcohol, raisins, dark chocolate and coffee. DruncanVeasey (8226) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2010
Bottle-conditioned. Stout? You’re having a laugh. Fizzing chestnut with an uncontrollable rocky head like bathfoam. Yeasty apple strudel aroma with clovey spice, toffee and raisin. Pleasantly mulled, earthy and stewed apple-accented once the fizz has died down; hazelnut at the back, alcohol building as the carbonation dies. Decent malts overpowered by yeasty exuberance. Some shampoo astringency in the finish. Excessively fizzy, likeable strong ale.
