Originally offered as a Christmas special, this old ale has proven to be a favourite all year round. Distinctive chocolate and orange flavour notes work excellently against a rich, hoppy background.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Malt and hints of cocoa and orange in the aroma. Malty and slightly tangy taste with roasted malt and some noticeable yet not particularly strong notes of chocolate and orange.

Gravity cask. Very dark orange (pretty much black), big foamy white head with huge bubbles. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste has biscuity malt, very subtle Terry’s chocolate orange character, finishes a bit watery.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - opaque black with toffee shades. Nose - very subdued chocolate and orange but pleasant malt aroma. Taste - definitely chocolate and the orange is there in the background. Good biscuit note. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish considering. Overall - a pleasant ale.

Dark brown, beige head. Lots of chocolate, not souch orange, fairly dry and thin. Could be better.

Pint from cask. Pours very dark brown almost black. Aroma of roasted malts, orange and a little chocolate. Nice smooth taste and you can taste the chocolate orange. Really nice.

Pours a solid black with an off white head. Chocolate malty smell. Taste is also chocolate malt with a hint of bitterness.

jjsint (3194) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2013
Cask @ Falcon, Clapham Junction. Very translucent dark brown. Chocolate malt dominates aroma, with slight citrus. Bitter taste, slight powdered chocolate flavour. Ok but doesn’t really justify high ABV.

SarkyNorthener (4672) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2013
[email protected], wolverhampton. Brown beer with large white head and good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate with Orange peel. A very nice ale.

Egg4Goff (19) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 6, 2012
Cask; Lescar, Sheffield; a huge blast of chocolate on the nose; a deep, clear brown with a deep foamy head; unsurprisingly it tastes of chocolate orange but it is dark, bitter chocolate not cloyingly sweet, a bitter hop aftertaste helps balance nicely; a bit thinner than expected for a beer so strong, therefore dangerously drinkable; worth seeking out.

Cask conditioned handpump Scarborough Leeds 14/11/12. A chestnut brown coloured beer with a tight white head. There are certainly chocolate and orange aromas and flavours as promised. Has a nice warming body too. Does what it says and does it well. Tasty.
