Not a bad porter. Their best beer at the Downtown Grill. Smells of maple, coffee, and dark chocolate. It has hops in the finish. The finish lingers about for a while with hop bitterness. Lots of lace hang around the glass.
Minimal charred oak nose. Clear brown, thin head, good lace. Charred oak, elderberries, grass. Medium body, easy carbonation. Rustic and nice. JStax (7175) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - NOV 8, 2015
Draft sample at the source. The beer is a darker brown with good clarity and a beige head of foam. The aroma has some nutty notes and a bit of chocolate and roast. The taste is somewhat sweet, but has a bit of bitterness. Medium body and medium carbonation. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 6, 2015
4oz on tap at the brewpub. Clear dark red color. Thin tan head, with good retention. Leaves thicker lace. Medium body. Kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Mildly slick, sort of dry finish. Caramel malt, toasty, some mild milk chocolate. Much less dark than the modern american porter, this drinks more like a red or an irish ale. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. OK, not great. Travlr (26071) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 17, 2014
Draft at the source. Dark clear amber brown color, beige head. Light coffee aroma. Taste is light coffee grounds. OneHotPepper (84) - - JUL 2, 2014
Coffee flavor, but not too heavy. Smooth on the palate and one of the more drinkable ones from this brewery.
