Draft sample at the source. The beer is a clear brown color with a beige head of foam. Fair retention. The aroma has mild caramel and a bit of toffee sweetness. Some roast. Medium sweetness throughout. Lighter in body and moderate carbonation. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 6, 2015
4oz on tap at the brewpub. Good toasty malt, kind of spicy. Some nuttiness, mild caramel malt. Definitely drinks like an English-style brown. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter taste. Mildly astringent. Clear red, slight camber color. Thin off-white head, leaving great thicker lace. Medium-plus body. Kind of slick texture. Kind of crisp lighter carbonation. A pretty reasonably solid english-style brown ale. Classically styled. Travlr (24884) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 17, 2014

Draft: Very nice...nutty and roasty. This has a great earthy quality to it. Goes great with some of the great food they offered at the brewery. Lot’s of caramel sweetness. This is a great brew that I would recommend you try. Ktwse (4894) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 17, 2014

On draught at Downtown Grille, Knoxville on 8 July 2006 (as Woodruff Nut Brown Ale). Quite light coppery colour. Subtle soft malty notes with a hint of smoke. Not too much caramel (good for me). Just a hint of nuts. Easygoing and easy-drinking. Pleasant if undemanding.
