A: The beer pours an amber in color with a finger of off-white head.
S: Not too much intensity left to the hop character. A bit of sweet pineapple aroma and some brown sugar and caramel malts. Light citrus notes in the background, as well as a light pine.
T: The flavor leans toward the sweet side with plenty of bread and caramel. Bitter pine and light grass qualities. Not much of the tropical fruit/pineapple that I picked up on the nose. Also not quite as enjoyable as the nose.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: Hasn’t held up very well, unfortunately. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 10, 2009
( 12oz bottle, labeled Tröegs Scratch 20 ) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a medium white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, resin, orange, and caramel. Flavor of hops (grapefruit, earth, pine) and caramel malt. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2009
On tap at the Springfileld location. Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, a little toasty, floral and skunky weed. Tastes of citrus (grapefruit), caramel, and I was getting some tropical fruitiness. Some lacing left on the glass. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 18, 2009
Bottle... Lightly hazy orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Grapefruit, resin and earthy notes in the nose along with lots medium-roast malt(s). Very full-bodied with timid carbonation. Huge malt backbone with lots of caramel sweetness that is countered by an abundance of earthy hop bitterness; neither really reigns supreme = nice balance. Lengthy, mainly bitter finish. Kudos to doublesimcoe for the bottle! daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 28, 2009
Growler shared at Cigar City!! Amber pour. Lots of floral hops, some citrus and caramel malt. Juicy flavor with grapefuit peel, caramel and a dose of bittnerness. Ok.

Draft at DRE. Pours deep coppery brown with 1-finger off-white head that clings well. Nose is huge resiny and feety hops, mango, caramel malt. Tastes caramel malty, piney, mengoey, canteloupy, and hoppy. A bit too mangoey for me, and reminds me a bit of Stone 11, I believe (the very mangoey one). Solid, but not as good as the prior DRE Anniversaries. blipp (9268) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 26, 2014
(Old) bottle of Scratch 20. Pours orange amber with a white head. Fruity and toffee malts, with low bitterness and hop flavors that are earthy and muted. Not undrinkable. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - SEP 13, 2009
Scratch 20-2009 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a fading white head over a hazed amber body. Aroma of floral and herbal hops; slightly dank. Taste is dank, resinous and piney hops. Light bubbles and a dry mouthfeel. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 8, 2009
Thanks to Rich for the bottle (as Scratch 20). Poured clear reddish-orange with a creamy, well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up fresh, bright oranges and floral notes over a sweet caramel and bready base.. a pinch of peppery warmth on the back of the nose. The flavor found pale malts, honey, and a bit of caramel surrounded by spicy and heavy bitterness (oranges, peppery pine, and perfume rocked it hard).. peppery and bitter well beyond the finish.. quite well balanced. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation.. bitterness was a touch scratchy, which worked well.. I liked this one much. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JUL 29, 2009
Bottle. Thanks to Rciesla for sharing. Light brown pour with light white head. IPA is overtaken by its hop character and grapefruit notes. Nice beer.
