4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Pours a dark copper with thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dark dried fruit, and sugar. Flavor is surprisingly smooth, almost dangerously, with a nice sweetness, spice, dried fruit, and slight malt and wheat. Alcohol is too well hidden and the bartender told me today that it is believed to be 13% this year. Awesome.
Tap, Mani, Ann Arbor, MI. Deep gold, slight haze. Balanced aroma, sweet honey with banana. Syrupy first sip. Mellow with sweet banana and passion fruit. Slightly too sweet on the finish but still nice. JStax (6504) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - MAY 22, 2016
Draft pour. The beer is a clear amber aith a thin head that dissipates quickly. Strong oaky character with a bit of burning alcohol and toffee. Big sweetness. A little boozy. The strength of the alcohol is a bit much for me. biirusaikou (2705) - - FEB 26, 2016
Bottle shared, thanks Gregg. Rich sweet caramel character with a candy edge, fairly boozy. Slightly disappointing one, may have been aged past its prime. jc1762 (1436) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 10, 2016
Thanks to Greg for sharing the bottle!
Aged for about 3+ years. Poured into a taster showing ruby amber with a finger of tanned foam.
The nose shows a caramel forwardness with light hints of raw meat (?).
The palate is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Belgian yeast forward with a strong tea like sweetness. willisread (3342) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 10, 2016
Bottle shared at Ratebeer Tokyo W & CB Tasting. Thanks Gregg P! Honey, caramel malts, toffee and rum raisin bread on the nose with some light cinnamon and booziness present. Body is thin and sweet, but still nice enough.

750mL bottle, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aroma is authentic, with Belgian yeast, caramel, dark fruits and candied sugar. Flavour brings out spiced Belgian yeast, candied sugar and caramel. Not overly complex, with a spicy, sweet finish. Not bad. Ferris (15275) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 12, 2014
Bottle - Caramel and spice with some umame. Clear caramel with no head. Caramel, light booze, sweet honey and stone fruity yeast. Not as interesting as I hoped. superspak (5594) - Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2014
750 ml bottle into chalice, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours fairly crystal clear orange/copper color with a thin off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly slick, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent quadrupel style! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering. tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2014
Shared 750 ml. bottle, poured to snifters showing a clear & bright, shimmering copper tone, and a light layer of reducing foam, with a combo of foamy & leggy spots on the glass. The nose was lurking alcohol, a fruity blend, sweetness, and spice. Medium+ bodied, with a soft disposition to the carbonation, the taste was esters, syrupy sweetness, alcohol warmth, with a touch of tartness to the finish. Liqueur-like and flavorful.
