Castlebrite is the first fruit beer to come from Dragonmead. This Apricot Ale uses an apricot puree as well as Pale Wheat malt to bring about this wonderfully refreshing brew. This beer starts with a subtle sweetness and slight apricot flavor, and finishes with a palate-cleansing tartness that will leave you wanting more.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/20/2016. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a small fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart apricot, peach, pear, apple, wheat, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of apricot and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lightly tart apricot, peach, pear, apple, wheat, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness and light fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, peach, pear, apple, wheat, biscuit, herbal, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness and balance of apricots, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/dry, bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/acidic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very nice fruited pale wheat ale. All around nice robustness and balance of apricots, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Tap: Slightly hazy stoplight amber body with a bright white, long-lasting foamed collar. Aroma has some apricot & wheat with a bit of a medicinal vibe. Slight tartness, a bit of rustic grain, & some mild toast. Flavor has that same medicinal bit to it, kind of vitamin-y. Tart apricot that mellows into a sweetness with notes of wheat, baked bread, & raw grains. Finishes with toasted straw & some artificial apricot sweetness. Meh.

Great beer. Apricot flavor comes in on the back of the tongue. Balanced yeast and hops.

Golden color. Apricot smell. Slightly sweet wheat taste with a hint of apricot. Refreshing and delicious taste.

tap. Deep golden with small head. Ive had a lot of bad Dragonmead beers, but this is actually pretty decent. A fair amount of apricot flavor with a mild pale ale. Lightly sweet. Seems like a good summer beer.

Draft at the Lansing Beerfest. This was great. Caramel color. Smelled and tasted like apricots. Sweet but not overly so.

draft... the one beer of my flight that I figured would be the worse turned out to be my favorite, thought it was just another generic fruit wheat beer not at all... the aroma is very nice, captures the true essence of apricot with a bit of a sour note as well... the taste is a touch boring as the apricot is a little generic but try this if you go

On tap at Dragonmead. Poured a golden color with a smaller sized head. Yep, Apricots. Other than that, not too much more going on.

First off let me say that I am disapointed by Dragonmeads brews at the present. I have gotten the impression that with the prices of their ingredients going sky high, they have cut back on the quantity of their ingredients in their brews. The end result is much weaker than usual brews. The aromas and flavors all appeared weak IMHO. With that said, on to the rating. This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a dark yellow-orange colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was bready and apricot. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of breads and apricot. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.
