Tap. Pours an expected amber with thick white head, decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some bread, very slight hops, and a bit of some spice. Flavor matches well and makes for a decent, but definitely not spectacular amber ale.
From bottle. Clear red pour with a small off-white head and some lacing on the glass. Bready biscuit and caramel on the nose and tongue with plums and raisins. Mild and easy to drink. Very lightly bitter, a bit more sweet. Medium mouthfeel. chucklemation (1684) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - APR 21, 2015
Pours a nice ruby red with no foam head. Aroma is lots of caramel with some toast notes. Flavor is caramel and toast, with a crisp finish. Somewhat watery. Has enough going for it to make it interesting and enjoyable. superspak (5597) - Michigan, USA - MAR 27, 2015
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/22/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malts, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Irish red ale. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. ARH (1125) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 20, 2014
On tap, poured into a chalice. The aroma is intially a light, dry bread note, which becomes more toast-like with caramel and citrus late. There are also some floral hints in there. It’s a slightly hazy, caramel brown color with a light tan, dense head that reduces to a medium ring with a light, wispy surface. Not much lace is left behind. The taste is a medium light dry with a bitter light sweet. The body is light and thin with a prickly carbonation. Flavors of caramel and grain come through on the palate, with some marmalade and a very light spice to the finish. The spice sticks around with light bread crust and zesty citrus notes in the somewhat clean aftertaste. Mark_Eck (1949) - - AUG 9, 2014
Pours a cloudy amber color. Aroma and taste are very mild with some caramel.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2014 Tap: deep, murky copper body with a slight red hue; small beige head on top leaves very little lacing on the way down. Aroma is very timid & mild... Doesn’t smell like much... Vague, slightly citric notes with a sweet & crystal malt tone. Taste has lots of almost-tart red apple with some kind of finishing spice that seemed a little like cinnamon? Very mild malty sweetness & some faintly citric hops, almost no bitterness. The taste was somewhat unexpected but pretty nice... A more robust aroma would do this one some good. Bottle. Reddish amber with some floaties. This beer is well...it’s just not good at all. I don’t really know how to describe the taste but metallic medicine is close. Very thin. Wow... firstsip (733) - Michigan, USA - SEP 14, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 A decent red, though lacking the charred malt character I associate with good Irish reds. That said... definitely malty. Not too sweet. Opaque amber with good head. Easy drinking. If you go on a day when it’s cask-conditioned, it’s even better. rumproasts (5359) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 24, 2013
bottle. Red amber with small head. Ugh, this has an unpleasantness that’s both medicinal and metallic. Well done Dragonmead. You find many ways to make bad beer. Dogbrick (13015) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 21, 2013
This brew is a hazy reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and slight hops. Light body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and a bit of overripe fruit. The finish is short and malty. Just average overall.
