On tap, pours a dark brown with a thin off white head, the aroma is quite roasty with a little bit of chocolate, the flavor is much of the same. roast on the front end with a sweet finish, kind of thin overall though, not terrible. firstsip (733) - Michigan, USA - JAN 11, 2014
From cask at brewery. Dark blackbrown. Heavy head quickly dissipates. Very faint nose of caramely malt. Cask gave it a thin mouthfeel but fullness of flavor: leather, breadiness. Honey adds a sweet twang on end of sip. Petkus331 (389) - Redford, Michigan, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Cask conditioned. An aroma of unsweetened chocolate, tobacco, some pear, a faint touch of strawberry. A dark brown, nearly opaque, thin white head, minor lace. Tastes of gentle non-sweet chocolate, almost coffee-ish, unlit cigar, followed by an interesting subtle pear and mint. Texture is mildly creamy, minor fizz, pretty unusual, but nice. Overall, very enjoyable. chucklemation (1687) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - SEP 25, 2013
Black beer with a small white head. Has a nice honey and light bitter taste. hotstuff (5160) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 20, 2008
Draft at Dragonmead.Small tan head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. The nose was malty, mildly hoppy and light roasty notes. Ditto for the flavor with a slight roasty flavor.Smooth mouthfeel and medium in body.Quaffable, easy to drink and balanced. Not an overly exciting beer, just okay IMO.

had this a few months ago. poured a nice mahogany with a tan head. aroma, sweet, a nice mixture of honey and chocolate malts with bits of hops poking through . flavor, the chocolate is the first to come out, the honey is not as robust as the aroma which was a little disappointing and a nice hop finish. not to bad IPFreely (1470) - Sanborn, New York, USA - OCT 3, 2005
On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep chestnut brown color with a fading tan head. Predominantly malty, earthy, fairly sweet but not necessarily from honey. Medium bodied, some dryness. Decent but not overly exciting. 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - JUN 12, 2005
Tap. Deep brown colored with a fair off-white head. A touch of roasted malt and chocolate in aroma. Thin bodied. Confused in flavor profile. Honey shows a bit more in flavor. I was disappointed with this beer. jollyraider (252) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 1, 2005
On tap: Deep brown. Light toasty aroma. Very smooth palate. Light brown with hint of honey. SuIIy (1983) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - MAR 5, 2005
draft: dark brown.black with a light brown, chocolate lookign head. Much better then anticipated due to dragonmean normally having very thin, unfullfilling dark beers. this one is an exception.
