COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Porter style was almost lost in England with the advent of cheaper and more prevalent alcohols like Gin. This recreation of an 1850 style Porter is more see-thru than a stout and is moderately hopped with Northern Brewer hops. One taste and you’ll see why this was the most popular style in the north of England.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Roast, chocolate, nuts, and some earthiness. Blah.

Had this on cask. Pours a dark brown with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, roast, and earth. Flavor is semisweet chocolate, caramel, bread, and roast malts. Has a soft, smooth body. Thought not very strong on flavor or aroma, I enjoyed drinking this.

tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JAN 10, 2014
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 Tap @ Dragonmead: Almost fully black body with not much of a head, only a thin film & a chunky, khaki colored collar around the edges. Aroma has strong notes of bitter chocolate, roasted malt, black coffee, & a hint of brown sugar. The taste has a larger coffee-ish presence; generic coffee bean notes with roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, & a little nuttiness. Bitterly roasted finish, a little watery. Another decent, yet slightly unexciting beer by Dragonmead.

My first nitro-dispensed porter - man is it creamy! Indeed, non-lactic creamy smoothness overwhelms enjoyably. Quite dry, very little bitterness, essentially no sweetness, just all around smooth, soft, and comforting.

Draft at brewery. 04.22.2010. Pours dark brown with thick tan head. Nose of smokiness, burnt malt, oaty. Tastes creamy, burnt, a bit sweet. Oily mouthfeel.
