COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer starts at a relatively low gravity, and thus finishes with a low alcohol content (about 4.8%). Make no mistake though, it is by no means a light beer. It is rich with roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and a touch of herbal hop flavors. It is made from a blend North American and British base malts with rolled oats, chocolate, brown and caramel malts. We finish it with a great big dose of earthy American hops (Sterling, Willamette, and Northern Brewer). 11.5°

Draught pint. Brown-mahogany color, good lacing. I agree with the description for the most part, except I couldn’t taste much hops in it - it’s kind of like newcastle, but better. Pretty freaking good, quality session.

3.5
Strykzone (7659) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 29, 2017
Dark and coppery in color. A beige ring. This is a robust beer with grains and cocoa. Dry citrus bitterness and a nice smoothness. Earth and herbal notes. A pleasant and complex drinker.

4.2
MetalNHopHead (2190) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - SEP 22, 2017
It's a bit funny that Dragoon has given such a mellow, easygoing beer like Stronghold such a masculine name. This drinks like a hybrid of 2 English styles: Brown Ale and (Dark) Mild Ale. Brown appearance. Malt, toffee, and brown sugar aromas. Malty toast and chocolate flavors with very slight hops at the finish. Balance is smooth and mostly sweet.

HuskerTan (2398) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - AUG 28, 2017
Bottle/Fest. A- Caramel, malty. A- Brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Caramel, malty, spices. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Okay. I mean it is a brown ale, you can only do so much. Nothing special.

mcberko (18956) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 18, 2017
On tap at Dragoon, pours a clear dark copper with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt and some light nuttiness. Flavour is like drinking toasted bready, with a bone dry plate. Nothing special, but it’s well made. Decent.

3.7
bytemesis (9232) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 5, 2016
Tap. Pours clear chestnut, small creamy beige head, great lacing. Aroma is roasty, a bit Bready, hints of tobacco. Flavor is light sweet, very light bitter, roasty, Bready. Light plus body. Simple but satisfying

Marheb (6193) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 8, 2016
(En fût au Tap & Bottle Tucson): Le corps est définitivement touffu, les malts profondément enracinés et des fleurs tourbillonnent et labourre la terre. Beau et bon.

3.3
