4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
"Session" beer that’s BELOW 4%. YES!!
This bready American Pale Ale has a solid malt character and a lovely whiff of citra and Simcoe pine and grass. Grapefruit in the taste, but the aromatics are all West Coast greenery. The water dominates the malts, but that’s intentional. For 3.8%, this brew packs a great malt taste and solid hop bitterness. Clean finish, and it’s light appearance says Pale Ale but also says drinkability. Looks unfiltered, great lace... more taste than most beers at this alcohol volume.
Very happy to have tried it.
With Z, pours a light rusty gold color with a small head. Nose is light citrus . Taste is also light citrus, very drinkable, but light as it is a session ale. Finished on the light citrus notes, refreshing but light ! Pass me another !
Nice session ale ! Quaff Score 7 / 10 zgaier (1951) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - JUN 14, 2015
Bomber. Pours golden orange with a white head and aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is slightly bitter, with hops, citrus, and fruity notes leading to a dry, bitter finish. loubar (157) - Los Gatos, California, USA - NOV 3, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2015 12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Aroma of citrus and floral hops.Taste is citrus hops forward, orange with a little sour lemon and grapefruit, a touch of pine, on a light malt base. Aftertaste is mildly bitter with the hops lingering. Light-bodied and refreshing. Lots of flavor for the low ABV. Overall, a totally enjoyable session beer. slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"Not a total surprise, as I expect good stuff from Drake’s, but holy hell this was good! All the wonderful hop goodness without any residual sugar or alcohol to "get in the way". What surprised me the most about this beer was that I loved the feel. Not watery at all, and the beer just dances on your tongue. Wonderful citrus and grapefruit aroma, with a hint of pine, with a long lingering bitter finish. Right up there with the Stone session pale as one o the best low abv beers I’ve had." djd07 (14539) - Houston, Texas, USA - SEP 24, 2014
Bottle thanks to Bill. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong citrus, pine, and wheat. Medium mouth with nice citrus, light bitterness, pine. Very good.

Bottle from Petaluma Market. Slightly peachy grassy aroma, small white head. Tasty enough medium bitterness with some fruit coming through. Decent for its low strength and nice and easy going. Good. jjh19 (63) - California, USA - JUN 10, 2014
Appearance: Golden yellow and very clean looking. A good looking beer.
Smell: A nice whiff of mild, crisp hops.
Taste: Hmmmmm. Disappointing. Just hit flat and card-boardey on my first 2 or 3 tastes. And it didn’t get better from there. Everything was muted and stale tasting. Hopefully just not a great bottle.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied.
Drinkability: This one didn’t have it for me. My tasting history with Drake’s is solid. I probably just didn’t have a great example of this beer. I’m sure my next Drake’s will be terrific. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2014

Sampled on tap at ale arsenal. A clean crisp ipa. Much lighter than your average session ipa. Light and crisp with a good hop layering.
