COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship amber ale is brewed with English malt, hops and yeast. The extra malt lends a lightly toasted, chocolate flavor, a tawny color, and a smooth, rich character; it's perfect for sipping one or enjoying many.

Clear amber color with an offwhite head that retains very well and leaves good lacing. Smell is fairly hoppy; pine and some caramel notes come through. Taste begins a little grassy from the hops, but then gives you more toasty caramel flavors with some pine sap at the finish. Fairly high carbonation with a medium body, fairly slick on the tongue. I got this in a trade a little while back, so maybe it was a little old, but either way, this was a pretty decent beer.

12oz bottle poured a cloudy amber color with a nice rocky head and good lacing. Had a sweet caramel with some almost burnt biscuit aromas. Some small hop presants. The taste had a good balance of flavors, mixed malts with some nutty almost Brown Ale qualities. A good amount of hop bitterness and flavor peak through the rich malts. Overall one of the top ambers and another winner from Drakes.

Bottle. Aroma of dried apricot and molasses, dark amber color, light crisp and short sweet/savory taste. Lingering brown rice finish. Solid beer that’s complex enough to be respected and light enough to be pint worthy.

(12oz Bottle. 04/2006) Subtle nose of stewed malts and the resulting caramel. Clear, deep amber with medium, off-white head that dissipates to a prominent ring (but little film). No lace. Very mellow, malty with notes of astringent grain and caramel. An almost orangey hoppiness and creamy finish that lingers for just a few seconds. Very tasty.

I am becoming very impressed with this brewery. This was nice and malty. It was light but still nice and flavorfull.

pours brownish amber with good tan head - nice lace and retention. very nice nose of dusty cocoa and light refined hoppiness, w/some underlying caramel. creamy malt sweetness is touched by a bit of roast bite and herbaceaous hoppiness. good balance/easy drinker.

Yet another great beer from Drakes. Somewhat similar to their IPA without the hops. Overall, nice job.

Tried this on tap at Beer Lands inside the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. Sweet malt flavor with nice citrus hop notes, a well balanced amber. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 24, 2007 A pretty dark amber ale, darker than most. Has a smilir taste to Fat Tire, but I prefer this one a little more. Has nice roasted flavor to it.

Smells fruiy-flowery, hoppy, sweet, like a light IPA. Deep golden amber color. Tastes very bitter, with a sweet malty caramel flavor. Roasty hoppy taste, emphasis on the hoppy. Dry bitter finish. Not my cup of beer.
