Pours an amber colour with a white head. Aroma of toasted malts, dry grassy notes and some earth. Flavour is rather rich with toasted malts, strong grassy hops, earth and subtle caramel sweetness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bitter, slightly sweet finish. Enjoyable.
355ml bottle. Clear, dark ruby colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Slightly fruity hoppy and chocolately malty aroma, hints of red berries and milk chocolate. Taste is mildly toasty grainy, chocolately malty, minimally nutty, slightly dry hoppy, fruity overtones, hints of red berries, subtle sweetness. Slightly inharmonious, somehow unconnected hop and malt flavours, beyond that cleaned up to an excessive state of conformity that repudiates any sign of provenience and peculiarity (not to mention the word "idiosyncrasy"). Bottled. Poured clear reddish-brown with a short-lived cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up a hefty dose of lightly-aged caramels, a great blend of mixed chocolates, herbal, and drier floral hoppage.. I can’t think of anything that I’d rather have from my Amber Ale. The flavor for the most part held serve.. toasty caramel and chocolate at the core with supple pine and floral bitterness extending outward.. sweet finish, and well-balanced with its bitterness. Pretty close to medium-bodied with great flow on the palate.. left a refreshing, lightly-bitter finish. Well done! CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 24, 2006
Clear dark copper brown with a thin off-white head. Toasty earthy caramel aroma has some English hop notes. Body starts with some pleasant light crystal malty sweetness, well-balanced with a bittering piney hop finish. A nice, drinkable and flavorful amber with mild toasted chocolate subtleties.

Bottle: Dirty amber, fairly dark, lots of chunks floating about, moderate light beige head, frothy, so-so lacing, light carbonation.   Malty, biscuity, buttscotch nose.   Soft malt start, semi-sweet, although the sweetness seems somewhat artificial, with a big earthy finish.   A bit more hop on the exit, but doesn’t seem all too clean.   Slight astringency lingers.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Tiz okay, but not my bag I guess.   Thanks Dan! wlajwl (6809) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Aroma is toffee, mild butterscotch, malts and a hint of earthiness. The flavor is toffee/caramel, fruit, citrus and a tart/malty finish. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2007
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear deep amber colored body under a fizzy and fluffy beige head that left lots of sticky lacing. Nice lightly sweet smelling toasted malt nose with some light floral hops and a touch of toffee. The flavor is dry toasted and slightly nutty malt with a light hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a slightly grainy finish and moderate fizzy carbonation. All around, a pretty nice beer. Alot of character and flavor for a typically boring style. Cloudy, uh, well, amber color. Nice tan head. Malty, bready, mildly spicy aroma. Upon her first sip, The Bride announced that this was way too flavorful for an amber - Spicy sweet, with prominent dark bread and cereal flavors, on a syrupy smooth palate. Like me, it’s rich and smooth (except I’m not rich. or smooth). Crisp dry finish. Thanks to Darkelf for the Trade! joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - DEC 27, 2009
Pours dark amber with a nice khaki head. Aroma is fruity with minerals. A bit metallic. The flavor is fairly sweet with some dark fruit, bread, and a mildly spiced hop finish. Full bodied for an amber ale.
