Pours dark amber with a nice khaki head. Aroma is fruity with minerals. A bit metallic. The flavor is fairly sweet with some dark fruit, bread, and a mildly spiced hop finish. Full bodied for an amber ale. TheBeerGod (6284) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - JAN 19, 2007
Bottle. Courtesy of stoutlover72. Thanks Garrett! Cloudy amber pour. Small fizzy tan head that recedes rather quickly. Nose is caramel, sweet malts, light citrus hops, and cocoa. Taste is malty and somewhat sweet but has a nice hop balance to it. Some light cocoa, caramel, hints of pine and light citrus notes. Body is creamy and smooth. Medium overall feel and a pleasant carbonation tingle. Finishes with more caramel, sweet malts, citrus notes and light cocoa. Really nice beer! Great session style beer! riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - AUG 2, 2007
Aroma is grassy hops, caramel, toffee, and a little bit of roastiness. Complex aroma for an amber. Pours a hazy dark amber with nice head retention throughout the life of the beer. Flavor is nice mild bitter grassy hops, caramel, and some nice roast sweetness. This is a surprisingly complex amber ale. It finishes with a little citrus and a pleasant sweetness. hayduke (5731) - Eureka, California, USA - OCT 20, 2008
From six pack that cost $8.99 at BevMo in Vacaville, CA this poured a cloudy brown with red tinges, and raised a fat off-white heasd and good lacing. Nose is of roasted malts and some floral hops. Light and fizzy mouthfeel. Flavor is dominated by the chocolate and there was not much in the finish. I was not very fond of this, but then that is true of most ambers. I have five bottle to give away. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - SEP 1, 2010
Clear deep red with a creamy white head. Malty aroma and taste with some earthy caramel notes throughout.

Bottle: Amber color, nice sticky head and lacing. Sweet toast, bread, rich malts, nice subtle hops. The flavor is rich and balanced, toasty umami. Lots of rich backdrop and malts. Nice finish, lightly bitter. jkwood04 (5472) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 1, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, pale and caramel malts, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. A decent beer. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - SEP 26, 2003
Orange gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, malty and sweet. A medium bodied amber. Malts are fruity and slightly sweet. Hops are grapefruity and spicy. Well balanced. It’s a little hoppy and spicy for an amber, but it does keep it from being the same as every other amber out there. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. andrewje41 (4521) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - SEP 27, 2015
Overnight Drakes started popping up in Seattle, and for this I am grateful. Draft pour pint at Toranado Seattle. Solid amber here, and has what I look for in one. Pours a deep dark thick brown with an infinite foam head and lacing. Soft malt forward aroma. Creamy body with a nutty malt lingering flavor. Very cream centered. Very tasty beer in a style I tend to avoid. Impressed with this one. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - MAR 20, 2006
Poured a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma consisted of peanuts, toffee, dry popcorn and a little earthy. Also present were notes of tobaco leaf and some chocolate. Malty flavor that is not nearly complex as the aroma. Mainly caramel with peanuts on the finish. Light to medium bodied with a hop bitterness on the finish.
