Very balanced amber. this not my style. not a fan of crytal malt. But good for style some crystal and caramel malt note light bittering I would guess in the 16-20 IBU range. session beer. brianprentiss (701) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 9, 2006
Very rich, caramelly, malty, toffee, amber. Little head but good lacing, very dark appearance. Leans almost toward Stout range. Interesting and good, would buy a single again, not sure about a six pack. mjg74 (3106) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAY 28, 2006
Bottled. Pours a dark amber color with quite a bit of sediment floating about. Aroma is malty with some caramel, some hops are present as well. Mildly hoppy right up front. Fairly hoppy for an amber with the right amount of maltiness for balance. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 6, 2006
Bottle: Dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma, caramel and a light hoppy presence. Flavor was caramel and some toffee, with a mild bitterness. bhensonb (15188) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 22, 2006
Medium malty aroma. Hazy reddish apricot color with a vigorous tan/white head. Starts with a malty sweetness, there’s an interestingly unusual flavor component, then an earthy component. It’s not a typical amber. It’s really quite good. There’s a carob type of flavor in there. Decent mouthfeel.

Courtesy aspidites and stoutlover72. Clear amber and a small, off white cap. Nose of toasty, bicuity malt and some crisp, lightly sharp hops. Similar flavor with some cocoa powder. Tastes English. Medium/light body, balanced. Very drinkable. Dorwart (2589) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - NOV 29, 2008
Thin head of fine bubbles. Good carbonation though. Sweet caramel aroma with some dark fruit and molasses. Looks and smells like a nice english barleywine. Color is a murky mahagony brown. Sweet flavor with lots of roasted grains and plenty of malt for body. Pretty thick and chewey. Some earthy and peaty notes in there also. You up the alcohol content on this brew and you have yourself a decent barleywine. More raisins and prunes. Finishes oily and roasty with more lingering earthy notes. Very surprised with this brew. Plesantly surprised. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - SEP 1, 2010
Clear deep red with a creamy white head. Malty aroma and taste with some earthy caramel notes throughout. Robbievegas (230) - Las vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 10, 2012
Tried this on tap at Beer Lands inside the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. Sweet malt flavor with nice citrus hop notes, a well balanced amber.

Nice amber color with a soapy white head. Some sweet toasted bread and biscuit malt notes. A nice floral hop aroma, mild earthy notes, and some yeast. Light fruit esters on the palate, some toffee malts, toast, and biscuit. Mild earth tones and very mild hop bitterness.
