UPDATED: SEP 27, 2013 Pours black as used motor oil with a thick pillow of mud brown head. Aroma is toffee, licorice, and malt. Flavor is mildly sweet up front with an explosion of complex flavors upon breathing. Spices, chocolate, hint of coffee, maybe some clove, and a nice boozy warmth.
Texture is thick and creamy with lively carbonation.
Very good brew!

On draught at Drakes Taproom. Black with a fair bubbly head. Rich, chocolatey After Eight aroma. Tasty, chocolatey, boozy, minty. Smells like Christmas pudding. Has a lot to it. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - APR 13, 2013
On tap at the Barrel House. It pours brown with an orange/tan head. The aroma is toffee, cocoa, a little tart stone fruit. Brown sugar, bourbon… nice. The flavor is woody, bourbon, vanilla, caramel and a little cocoa. Roast in the finish. LIght carbonation. Hopped_Silly (418) - California, USA - APR 11, 2013
From memory: draft. Overall, a rich, layered, and concentrated beer, with good balance. Obvious oak influence, though not overbearing.. Layers of rich chocolate, vanilla, roasted coffee beans and hints of whiskey. Solid. A one and done kind of beer, due to the overall richness on the palate. Well made.
