Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drakes most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drakes most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Liked this one, seemed less hoppy then other ipas. The malt seemed a little more prevalent. Enjoyed the heat from the high abv, but for an imperial I was looking a little more for the hop punch in the mouth and it never showed up. I will buy again as I really like drakes, but will remember that this is an imperial that is more balanced with the malt, not just an all out hop blitz.

Pours a nice copper color from a growler. Aroma is piney, citrus, and lots of hops. Taste is nice balance of malty sweetness and a boat load of hops. Medium body with and nicely bitter finish. This is a nice DIPA.

Tap at GABF. Pours a clear copper with medium off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is pine, floral, earth malt. Medium body, grass, pine, lingering resin finish, good.

Bottle in Seattle. Thick, sharp white lace with a heavy orange body with lots of floaties. Rich, strong aroma of resinous pine with a distilled pineapple note. Pretty balanced body, with plenty of carbonation, for its weight. A touch of astringent bitterness, but its actually quite nicely balanced in. Snappy finish: bitter, alcohol burn and flavor, some sweetness. Delicious.

Fles gedeeld, uitgeschonken in proefglazen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle, the appearance is pristine gold with a shiny copper hue. The head of foam is a soft heavanly cloud of pillowy white bubbles. The aroma opens up deliciously dank with fresh, slightly sweet citrus hops cutting through sweet cereal and grain highlighted with some tropical fruitiness resembling papaya and pineapple. On the taste, I get caramel malt in conjunction with sweet cereal. A light pineapple character develops from the grain. A smooth piney dry finish balances the sweetness out. The alcohol is hidden well. An easily top 5 favorite all time IPA.

Keg @Salt Horse, Edinburgh (rating back-log some time over the last six months). Pours red/copper with a white head. Nose is grapefruit, star anise. Taste is fruity up front but then a big bitter finish.

Sweet aroma with a molasses and caramel flavor. Hoppy bitterness is not very present. Palate is medium body. Nothing to overtly make this stand out from the crowd, but very respectable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg, half American pint. Pours medium pale amber with a thin tan head subsiding average. Scent is nothing. Taste is medium light cream and quite sweet. Surprising. The grass and cream are light. Vanilla. Dry. Great.
