A - Served a cloudy amber-orange color with a thin finger of frothy off-white head. The head faded fairly quickly leaving behind some decent lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of Bourbon with some oak and vanilla with some strong sweet wheat with some caramel and a touch of bread.
T - Starts off with some Bourbon with some sweet wheat, toasted caramel malts, and some vanilla. Through the middle some oak comes through with some mellowing sweetness and a bit of residual brown sugar and booze. The finish is a mix of Bourbon, oak, vanilla, wheat, and a bit of booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a big warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. The Bourbon really had a great effect on the wheatwine. It is super rich and bold but nicely balanced overall. robertjm (892) - Albany, California, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Draft at Beer Revolution - Little white ring around the glass. Dark brown. Lots if murkiness. Noticeable toasted coconut aroma. Flavor is nicely rounded off by the boozy bourbin influence. Alcoholic aftertaste, but I am digging it. Much better than the Frankenwine. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - DEC 29, 2011
On draft at the barrel house. It pours copper with a thin white head. The aroma is nice and strong with buttered toffee, caramel, vanilla and wood. Lots of bourbon. The flavor is weird. It’s very oily on the palate with strong bourbon and a finish that drops off the table. With all the alcohol and bourbon flavors you’d expect it to leave an impression, but sadly it doesn’t. Only hints of alcohol and butter. Sad after a promising start.
