A - Served a cloudy golden-orange with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some good lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of banana and sweet malts with a bit of clove and some yeast esters.
T - Starts off with some banana flavor with some sweet grains and malt. Through the middle,a bit more fruity esters come through with a bit of yeast character. The finish is a mix of banana, some cloves, and some sweet grains.
M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Easy drinking and very sessionable. Maybe not a traditional Dunkel, but a nice take on the style. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 30, 2012
On tap at Father’s Office. Pours with a hazed amber bronze hue with a fluffy, lasting khaki head. Aromas are nutty and biscuity with mild caramel and tons of isoamyl acetate (banana ester), light chocolate and some medium 4VG (clove phenol). Flavors are somewhat watery, malt forward, bready and grainy. Some spicy notes, banana, 4VG, vanilla. Lively to slightly fizzy bubbles, dry and a bit thin. On tap at Drake’s Barrel House pouring up totally opaque pale copper with gold hues and white head. The aroma is wheated and lightly sweet banana followed by a bit of clove spice in the background. The taste starts with a light banana note then layers of grainy malts and then it moves into a bit of lemon like acidity. In the background I get some faint yeasty almost chalky notes that help add balance to the sweeter notes going on here. Not very Dunkel but smooth easy drinkin’s beer. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - FEB 29, 2012
Sampled at the Brewhouse on 2/18/2012. The Dunkelweizen pours a hay amber gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal, bready, caramel and sweet, with a touch of smoke. A medium bodied dunkelweizen. The malts are bready, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal and citrusy. Decent carbonation, perhaps a little light. Nice balance. There is a touch of tartness and a touch of smoke. Not as sweet or bready as a traditional Dunkel. Very easy drinking. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some tartness. bb (9268) - Alamo, California, USA - FEB 21, 2012

On draft at the Barrel House. It pours cloudy orange with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet and spicy with big German yeast character. Lots of clove and banana. The flavor is kind of thin and watery but with nice dry clove, pepper and banana. It has a mildly toasty finish. A bit weak and not as effervescent as the more traditional examples, but still a pretty good, authentic effort.
