22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy amber with a medium beige / tan head. Extremely aromatic, with truckloads of resinous, citrusy hops, and a big fat caramel malt at least as prominent - there are some tropical fruit notes further back as well. Flavour is super pungent, with a big whopping caramel malt backing, supporting the truckload of resinous hops on top. Again, there’s a hint of tropical fruit content, but not prominent. So insanely well-balanced, while still be extreme in its flavour profile. Finishes with a harsh but pleasant astringency. One of the best imperial reds I’ve had. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 13, 2012
Clear amber pour with a white head. Nice citrus and floral hop nose to this. A bit of pine, and lots of caramel an toffee malt sweetness. There is a bit of pine hoppiness and bitterness on the palate, some floral notes, and a nice orange peel. Some sweet toffee an malt flavors, too. bhensonb (15190) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark red with a cream off-white head that laced quite a bit. Aroma seems quite pine. Med + body. flavor is very pine over a fairly dark roast malt. Finishes malty, but more bitter and hoppy. Ratman197 (14830) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 12, 2012
On tap at Drakes poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, orange zest, pink grapefruit, pine and tropical fruit. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, pink grapefruit, tangerine, light tropical fruit and light pine with a crisp dry bitter lingering grapefruit finish. kermis (13363) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 5, 2014

Amber pour, off white head. This is really well balanced and reminds me of a hybrid of an American and English barleywine. Sweet malts and resinous hops. The flavors meld well together. marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 28, 2012
On tap at Drakes Barrel House. Pours reddish brown with a nice off-white head and a smoky aroma., There is a classic red ale flavor with a lot of smoke and a raspy feel. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 14, 2013
Tap at Salted Pig, Riverside CA. Clear, deep red pour with solid rocky foam and good lacing. Nose is quite hoppy, in the India red ale/Imperial red ale vain. Taste is softer than expected, mild pine resin and sticky malt, somewhat dusty and bitter. Overall a pretty straightforward India red ale. jmgreenuk (9449) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - JAN 5, 2014
Bottle courtesy of MrHangover. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin bubbly white head. The aroma is hoppy malt liqourice. The flavour is strong bitter with a smooth slightly watery big hop liqourice aniseed palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a long bitter finish. 22oz bottle pours with an amber to copper body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up nice levels of pine hops along with some malts and roasted malts. Pretty nice. The taste is similar and delivers a rich smooth deep pine hoppiness mixed with thick malts and some roasted malts. It starts with the malt smoothness and pine hop flavor and grows into resiny pine hop bitterness and thin rings of roasted malts. Love it. Smooth rich integrated.
