Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of vinegar, brettanomyces, and fruits. The flavor is acidic with notes of berries, malt, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart finish. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 6, 2009
GABF 09. Where are all the other rates from GABF? I kept telling people to try this beer, since it was a top 10 for me. Pours a woody nutty amber with a thinning head. Aroma is fairly overloaded with wine soaked oak- but in a good way, tons of alcohol soaked sour fruits, cherry, and cherry pit, almost a slight strawberry and raspberry, slight apple and pear, toffee, bourbon, oak, wine, and good clean sour- slight acetic, lots of funk- brett, and lacto. Flavor is bourbon, vinous oak and wine grapes, tannic , cherry pit, juicy, sour funk, acetic, lactic, and malty sweetness- blended and well rounded- doesn’t seem too rushed, very tannic and modest astringency to go along with the sour fruity finish. I really dug this one. tokyogoat (1503) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 26, 2009
Pours amber with egg shell head.
Nose is mostly earthy woodiness with hints of funk and raspberry.
Taste is smooth with vanilla and oak, strawberries, cherries, floral hops, tart hints of citrus and a nice dose of funk. angrypirate06 (1388) - Texas, USA - SEP 27, 2009
On tap at Stone Sourfest 09. Appearance was hazy, nutty brown. Aroma was bourbon, caramel, syrup. Flavor is butter, caramel, bourbon followed by a pleasant sweentess. bhensonb (15621) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 29, 2009
Tap at California State Fair. "Brian" says 7.5% ABV. It’s a blend of things like merlot and tripel and who knows what. Pours reddish amber with a fine off-white head. Smells like Flanders. Served at ambient temperature - ~85 degrees? Medium body with mild carbonation. Medium sour. Somewhat vinous. Suggests red wine. Seems quite oaky.

Tap at Rose & Crown in Palo Alto. Cloudy reddish-brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is tart strawberry and cherry, wood, and a little funk. Flavor fruity with strawberry, cherry, other red berries, vinous notes, and wood. Nice medium-bodied sharp biting palate with lingering berry tartness. Surprisingly good sour from Drake’s. wetherel (1888) - Cupertino, California, USA - AUG 21, 2009
