Pours an amber color with an off white head. Amazing aroma. Hops and brown sugar. Taste is very balanced between some strong pine hops and some maple syrup. Bit bitter with a bit of a creamy finish. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2012
22oz bottle from Belmont Station in Portland, OR. Pours a clear amber colored body with a finger-width, creamy and frothy, light tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is pretty solid. Biscuity and toasty toffees with a nice earthy and piney hopping. Brown sugar, grapefruit and pineapple citruses with a few resins, caramel, touches of red fruits, and barely a hint of cocoa. Flavor is similar. Fairly hop forward with a good amount of piney and earthy hops, but a solid toasty and biscuity toffee malt backing. A few resins from the hops with some grapefruit, brown sugar, and deep caramels. Finishes dry and bitter with a nice toffee note. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a softer, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really enjoyable barley wine. Well hopped with a good amount of piney and earthy grapefruits, but a solid toffee malt backing to balance. Great beer. bytemesis (8411) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 2, 2013
Tap. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium creamy beige head that dissipates slowly with great lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, caramel, bread. Flavor is the same, nice citrus and resinous hoppy, light malty sweetness. Finish is medium bitter with the abv coming through in the far finish. Mediumbody. Quite nice.
