COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After years of amassing booty on the high seas, Drake’s Jolly Rodger naturally acquired a taste for the finer coffees brought to life by artisan, specialty roasters. That’s why this year, Jolly teamed up with Blue Bottle Coffee’s meticulous roasters in Oakland for his latest incarnation, Jolly Rodger 2014 Coffee Imperial Stout. Rich and complex, this beer features luscious chocolaty and subtle roasted malt flavors that blend expertly with a specially made roast of Kenyan Kangunu coffee to create aromas of caramelized stone fruit and flavors of black currant, tobacco, and caramel.

Bottle thanks to Jimmy. Pours big black and thick. Big coffee and burnt malts all around. Taste is the same with lots of chocolate and coffee flavors. Big tastes and a very nice beer.

Bottle... Pours ink-black with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a decadent and unlikely marriage of vanilla and chocolate crème. Beautiful! Full-bodied with effervescent carbonation. The flavor is all about good roastiness – carbonic and charred. Finishes a bit acrid due to all the coffee and deeply roasted barley. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!

Bottle. Pours opaque black, medium tan creamy head, dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is roast, coffee, hints of green pepper. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, roasty, stale coffee, light bell pepper. Medium light body for style, some creaminess in the mouthfeel. Hmmm. Guess the rot box claimed another victim.

With Z , pours a dark rich black color with a nice ephemeral Java head. Nose is heavy malt, dark roasted chocolate and coffee. Toast is rich chocolate, coffee and malt.....texture is heavy and thick ! Delicious! Finishes on the same tasting notes, sweetly, just blended perfectly . Quaff Score 9 / 10

Bomber. Pours black with a brown head and roasted coffee aroma. Taste is full of coffee and roasted malt, with light chocolate and burnt notes into the espresso, creamy finish.

660ml bottle (Zmogsala 2015, Vilnius)
Only very brief notes, as I thought this was a rerate, didn’t know it was split by years. Not too sweet, and totally malty. Nice hops too. Full and smooth. Enjoyed.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Coffee aromas. Dark roasted malts, expresso, and almost tootsie roll notes. Average body and mouthfeel.

Bottle shared by Nick at the house. Snifter pour was dark black with slight tan head. No lacing. Aroma was some coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and graham cracker. The taste was much more coffee than the aroma. A dark bitter espresso. Some dark fruit and dark chocolate.Lush body, creamy mouth, chewy. Finish is some bitter coffee. Good.
