Having consummed this several times at bars in the SF bay area, I miss it around XMAS. The skull and crossbones wearing a Sant Claus hat always put me in a jolly mood. One of Rodgers best at the time. ChillCoat (1029) - Concord, California, USA - AUG 5, 2005
Bottled. Pours dark brown with no head. Fantastic Aroma! I smell whiskey, Brandy, dark fruits, malt and sweetness. Caramel flavors with notes of raisins and plums. This one’s more aout the malt, as it should be. Very little carbonation. Finishes quickly. Damn, Rodger, this rocks! jimbowood (1036) - Freeport, Georgia, USA - JUN 16, 2006
Bottle. Aroma of oak. Wonderful peat/malt flavor in the back of the throat w/ a woody finish. A damn good beer. I don’t think Rodger brews a bad beer. legion242 (2348) - Richardson, Texas, USA - SEP 28, 2004
Another winner form these guys IMHO. I would really like to get my hands on some of their other brews, ’cause between this beer and the Expedition, I am sold. Poured quite dark with a very dark head. Strong malt in the nose and the perfect burned qualities on the tongue as well. mrnutsnbolts (204) - anywhere usa, - OCT 19, 2005
Bottle. Pours a blackish brown with a tiny tan head. Smells of Knob Creek Bourbon, coffee, roasted malts, raisins, and dark bitersweet chocolate. Tastes of dark fruit, molasses, coffee, chocolate, and of course bourbon. Thick oily mouthfeel that goes down nice and smooth. Great beer, really goes down without a hint that it might be at 9% ABV.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2003 2002. This is a different recipe, I'm informed. It's more like a double IPA. Very hoppy, very lightly spiced. Golden and crisp with touches of curacao and honey. It's a bright, light, crisp and outstanding beer is a season usually littered with dark, murky spicy crud. If the other beers were the resinous, junipery, christmas tree, this is the star on top. Delicious and a big win for Drake's. Kudos for having the balls to make this. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - MAR 3, 2007
DRAKES KICKS ASS! I don’t know the date of this beer but considering the last rating is Oct. 2006 and it says retired I assume there is some age on it. Poured a clear golden brown color with a minimal head. the aroma was sweet and malty with light peaty notes. Light aged malt character. Semi-sweet flavor with malty and light peat notes. mild bitterness on the finish. Alcohol is so hidden. I want more of this. AgentSteve (1647) - SF Bay Area, California, USA - JUL 30, 2008
Bottle provided by Rodger himself at the RB Sity Beer party. Rich molasses color and nose, with brown sugar and caramel added into the flavor. A bit earthy in the finish. Quite nice. Lagunitasfan (1323) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 6, 2009
T3 from AlohaC. I liked this one a lot. Medium brown in the glass, with an off-white head to ring and lace. Warm and brown sugar nose. Sweet and boozy. Smoooooooth in the mouth. Really, 20 year old bottle? Oldest for me by far. wetherel (1883) - Cupertino, California, USA - AUG 18, 2009
Tried at toncatcher’s T3 tasting. I’ve been very eager to try this for some time. Very mellow and sweet. Excellent. Very easy to drink.
