Draft at the Bistro BABF.Nose is hoppy, toffee, raisins, and a sour hint. Clear brown with a small beige head. Flavor is light funkiness, bitterness, and toffee. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 2, 2010
Quite unique. It pours a hazy amber with no head. The taste is an interesting mix of sour fruit, Brettanomyces, and a little caramel malt from the base barleywine. Pine hop flavors are ever so slightly present. Overall, the barrel-aging and fruit is just too intense with this one. It’s adventurous and interesting, but even a 10% barleywine wasn’t a big enough beer to stand up to the barrel flavors. Ratman197 (14826) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 18, 2009

Draft @ Bistro Barrel Aged Festival. Pours a slightly hazy, reddish-amber color; fizzy, mixed-bubbled off-white head with minimal lacing. Nicely tart red and dark fruits in the aroma; fruit rollups, complex fruit leather and maltiness; quite solid; some caramel and cardboard. Relaxed carbonation; lots of peppery notes, red fruits, light alcohol, and a solidly toasty, peppery barrel character; solid beer, drinkable, minimal alcohol if any, but nothing exceptional. Medium finish of toasted malts, basic sugar, and touches of soft woodiness. AgentSteve (1647) - SF Bay Area, California, USA - NOV 15, 2009
Pours ruddy brown with no head. Tart funky nose and flavor with a sour ale like influence. A decent amount of pine as well. Thinnish body. bhensonb (15188) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 15, 2009
Tap at the Bistro BA Fest. Pours dark reddish amber. Aromas of sour, cherry and malt. Favor is sour, malt and dark fruit, like cherry. Finish is smooth, sweetish, but touch of bitter. And woody. marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 15, 2009
On tap at Bistro Barrell Aged Fest. Pours reddish amber with a modest beige head and a sour brett aroma. There is indeed some pine in the flavor, which also has a syrupy sweetness to it.
