A: The pour looks innocent enough...nearly black with a finger of off-white/khaki colored head.
S: I knew this was going to be awful before I even lifted the glass all the way to my nose. A big dose of nail polish remover that seems to have been "cut" with jugs of white vinegar. There might be some roast, blueberries, or port, but I can’t be sure because I’m pretty sure my nose started bleeding.
T: I thought the nose was atrocious, but it could not prepare me for the flavor. The nail polish remover is still the primary characteristic, but there’s also an unnecessary level of vinegar that seriously burns my tongue. Again, some possibility of imperial stout, barrel, or blueberry flavor, but I was too busy being tortured by the beer to notice.
M: The body is medium, with a tongue searing acidity and a moderate carbonation.
D: This beer should not be served. Period. Luckily my glass was free because the keg ran out, but if it hadn’t been, I would have sent it back. I seriously have trouble believing that Drakes can even send this beer out. SuzyGreenberg (1604) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 29, 2009

Draft at Brouwer’s Sour Festival. Black with light brown head. Medium bodied stout with heavy roast. Lots of sharp/astringent fruit/acidity, but no way I could pick out blueberries from this. Draft for Sourfest 2009 at Brouwer’s. Pours a solid dark black. Mild aroma of bourbon with floral hops undertones. Again, there was a fantastic wood flavor with some nice rich malts, yet balanced very well with a sour taste (blueberry not very pronounced compared to the cherry). Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe’s Sourfest. Jet black with a slim dark tan rim for a head. Big sharp vinegary nose. A little unsettling. Creamy medium body with some sharp carb, but not too much of it. Lots of roast and ash working against the sharp vinegary acid of the fruit, which over-magnifies the acridity of the patent and roast barley and whatnot...the whole is a bit less than the sum of its parts.

On tap for SBW Sour Fest; one of 16 tried. The port smells come through in the aroma, with bourbon, brown sugar and roasted vanilla as well. The blueberry is not overpowering, nor is the sour. Finishes with a tart fruitiness. carruthm (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 16, 2009

Draft. Black beer with a tan head. Aroma of wine, light blueberry, and malt. Big fruity flavor - both blueberries and wine - with slight tartness and malt backing. Medium bodied. Draft at City Beer in SF. Dark brown with tan / light brown head. Aroma was wet wood, bourbon, and brett. Flavor was mostly wood mixed with twiggy light blueberry flavors with brett providing most of the finish. There was some bourbon in there also and obviously roasted malt flavor, but the brett and wood sort of took over.
