brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 2, 2015
On tap @ Drakes Dealership. Sort of a copper colored beer with a small khaki head. Decent amount of whiskey, vanilla, and chocolate on the nose. Plenty of caramel and brown sugar, too. Quite sweet tasting and a bit on the grainy, sugary side. Light maple, some vanilla, and dark fruits. Kind of a toasty bread thing going on as well. If you’re into big sweet barleywines, this one is for you.

Tap at University of Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy dark amber with a white head. Aroma is rye and brown sugar. Full bodied. Flavor is rye, treacle, lots of light fruit. Finishes not dry, but that’s appropriate. Just delicious.

A fantastic brew! Not only was the rye whiskey a good call, so was doing it at a 50% barreling rate so as to not overpower the beer. Perfectly balanced hoppy sweet malty spicy mahogony goodness. My 2nd favorite beer of SF brew tour 2014

3.7
bytemesis (9191) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUL 10, 2014
Tap. Pours clear amber, small beige head, good lacing. Aroma is a bit like the heilemans brewery back in the day, malts, rye whiskey, toffee, spent grain, bran breakfast cereal. Flavor is fairly sweet, lots of bran and rye, light bitter, bit of vanilla. Medium body, ABV fairly well masked.

3.7

Minor hazy tangerine brown. Caramel, bread and spice on the nose. Lots of sweet cotton candy notes. Taste is pretty medicinal. Lots of overwhelming bitterness, very boozy, sweet finish. Cedar and mulch with pine needles and a splash of olive brine.

From bottle at Jupiter during Sour Sunday 2014. Hazy dark orange with a small head. Sweet with caramel, light spices, malt and some whiskey. The mouthfeel was thick and the finish had some warming alcohol.
