Tap. Pours pitch black with a small to medium creamy tan head that leaves great lacing. Aroma is wonderful with smokey and dark roasted malt notes mixing with whiskey and some coffee. Flavor is nice, doesn’t quite live up to the promise of the nose, lightly sweet, light bitter, medium smoky. Very light astringence, chocolate notes present as well. Taster at the barrel house. Pitch black with only a dusting of foam but great lacing. Fantastic aroma of spicy chocolate and very light smoke. Bitterness is prominent in the flavor, some roast, chocolate and smoke. I detect a metallic quality that i don’t find appealing. Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Vanilla and oak aroma with light bourbon. Chooclate and vanilla flavor with light oak and rich malt. Medium bodied. Chocolate and vanilla lingers with light oak, light earth, rich malt, and light whiskey.

Black pour with a tan head. Nose is pretty smokey, but not quite as much as the bourbon version, it seems. Roasted malt, chocolate coffee, whiskey, vanilla, and oak aromas, too. The flavor is a bit more smokey and char heavy. Rye whiskey, vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee.
