Draft. Copper beer with an off-white head. Red fruit aroma with sour notes and light oak. Tartness flavor with fruitiness and sour notes. Medium bodied. Sour lingers with red fruit. Get more red fruit than chardonnay. marcus (10682) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 21, 2011
On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours reddish brown with a miniscule off-white head and a winey aroma. There is a sour vinous flavor with some cherry a little oak, a slight amount of banan ester and a vinegar finish. This is a nice version of sour aged tripel. joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 21, 2011
On tap at Beer Revolution’s Sour/IPA event. I think this is different from their Chardi’s Tripel since I don’t think this is a blend, but if it is feel free to delete. Anyway it pours a dark copper color with a small head. The aroma is strange and fruity with figs, sour cherries, some candy belgian sugar, yeast, and a bit of funk. Definitely some vinous barrel notes in there as well. The flavor is also odd with some cereal grains, caramel, tart stone fruit, blood orange, and some background barrel notes, notably vanilla and buttery chardonnay. It finishes on a bitter/alcoholic note. There’s a lot going on here, but not all of it works for me.
