On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a dark black color without much head. Wow, on one hand this beer has intense flavor but on the other it is just so smooth. My favorite black IPA.

Tap at the brewery..Pour is dark back with a tan head..Nose is sweet juicy hops, pine, sweetness, tropical fruits, roasted malts..Taste is tropical fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, piney hops, alcohol is very well hidden..This is a very nice beer. Black with a thick tan head. Roasted grain with an intense pine resin flavor. Medium bodied - no doubt due to a very aggressive attenuation. Alcohol is noticeable but not hot or fusel. Original and worth the try. joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Had this one late in the evening at the ratebeer gallery event. Not a lot written in the notes, but I remember it being a very strong, piney IPA with the black malts taking a back seat. Tons of pine. I give them credit for making a palatable black IPA at 11.4%. Very fresh and potent. Good job again Drakes! bytemesis (9345) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Pours dark nearly opaque black with a very large brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, pine resin, just a touch of roastiness. Flavor is the same, very IPA-like with the black part taking a backseat. Light sweet, medium bitter. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Tasty.
