On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a dark black color without much head. Wow, on one hand this beer has intense flavor but on the other it is just so smooth. My favorite black IPA.

Black with a thick tan head. Roasted grain with an intense pine resin flavor. Medium bodied - no doubt due to a very aggressive attenuation. Alcohol is noticeable but not hot or fusel. Original and worth the try.

Tap at the brewery. Pour is dark back with a tan head. Taste is tropical fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, piney hops. This is a very nice beer.

This inky brew had some heft to it, bit none of us beleived it was really 11.5%! Covers the abv well. Thick, juicy hops in the nose...grapefruit, orange peel, pine, chocolate, molasses, coffee...alot going on in the nose and mouth. Bitter leaning but well balanced and deeeeelicious. I’d definitely buy in bottles."

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with orange glints and a dark tan head. Aroma suggests cat pee! Med + body. Flavor is dark malt and a lot of citrus. Mild burn. Could be hops or heat or a combo. Finishes very tasty. Just excellent.

bytemesis (8219) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Pours dark nearly opaque black with a very large brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, pine resin, just a touch of roastiness. Flavor is the same, very IPA-like with the black part taking a backseat. Light sweet, medium bitter. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Tasty.

On tap at the Ratebeer Gallery event. Pours black with a modest tan head and a celery and toffee aroma. There is a smooth dark malt flavor with massive hop bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden.

Draft. Black beer with a dark cream head. Big grapefruit and summer fruit aroma. Grapefruit and summer fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and summer fruit lingers with light cocoa and malt.
