On tap at the barrel house. Pours medium brown with a modest beige head and fruity bourbon aroma. There is a delicous vanilla and chocolate flavor with a heavy bourbon trail. This is a very rich brew that needs to be sipped. bb (9268) - Alamo, California, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Draft. Rich amber beerwith a cream colored head. Caramel and light bourbon aroma. Bourbon and caramel flavor. Medium bodied. Bourbon and caramel lingers with light darker malts. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 1, 2011
A - Served a slightly hazy copper-red color with a thin ring of white head. The head faded quickly and left just a bit of lace behind.
S - Aroma is quite full of bourbon. Lots and lots of vanilla, oak, and booze. There is just a bit of rich sweet caramel malt peaking in from the background.
T - Starts off with big bourbon flavor, with strong oak and vanilla notes. Through the middle, the booziness kicks in a bit alongside some rich sweet caramel malts. They are super rich. AS the beer finishes, some of the harshness of the bourbon flavor starts to mellow, but the vanilla and oak flavors are still strong combined with some rich sweetness and booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation. Almost smooth with a fairly syrupy mouthfeel and quite a bit of warming.
D - Fairly drinkable. The beer was super full of bourbon. It could have used a bit more malt character to help balance out the bourbon a bit. That being said, it still drank pretty well. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - AUG 30, 2011
On tap at the Barrel House. It pours copper with a khaki head. The aroma is nice with sweet nutty caramel and hints of wood and funk. The flavor is rich with nuts, wood and a little caramel/toffee and big alcohol burn. Not much sweetness, sadly since that may have balanced out the alcohol a bit. It finishes rather dry and alcoholic with some vanilla and wood.
