tried in a bottle from Dunster Village (as Dunster Ruby Bitter). Hazy amber colour with a white head. Aroma malty light citrus and apple. Taste light bittersweet, and medium body. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - NOV 28, 2014
Bottled (backlog). Slightly murky rubyish amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is caramel malts along with some berries and mild floral notes. Flavour is sweet malts, mild nutty notes along with some floral and toasted notes. Mild resin and wood in the finish as well. jjsint (3492) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2014
Bottle from Hog & Partridge, St Neots. Colour on the dark side of toffee, cloudy. A bit of white head. Scent of caramel, bready malt with some soft raisin, strawberry and gardenia. Taste is sweet malt, very lightly bitter, with a sweet biscuity malty finish. This is pretty good really. Would have scored higher if not for its off-putting appearance. Appearance: Clear ruby with no head.
Aroma: Apple, pear, caramel, syrup, chocolate, grassy and bread dough.
Taste: low/medium bitter and sweetness with low sourness.
Palate: Thick smooth texture, light/medium body, no carbonation, abrupt fruity and malty finish.
Comments: Ok, a bit lifeless and no lacing. McNeillR (2329) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 16, 2014
Dirty amber with small white head. Rusty malt sweetness, airy. Terse carbonation, more veg than berry middle and a flopped bitter finish.

Bottle, pours hazy redish/amber. Some caramel on the nose. Ever so slightly dry bitter finish. The worst of the ’Buckden’ beers. chriso (21656) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2013
568ml bottle, purchased at Ely Winter Beer festival 2013, best before 30 November 2013, at tasting on 20 January 2013. More copper than ruby. Rather more to it than the Buckden Bronze Bitter tasted at the same time. Malts are prominent with berry fruit and a light chewiness but also strong caramel elements which I’m not too keen on. Also a bit sweet. Some earthy hops but I’d prefer more assertive bitterness to counteract the malty goings on. All in all decent enough though.

Bottle 568ml. @ ChrisO Snow Tasting.
Clear medium yellow amber colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity, caramel, grass - leather notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting. It pours deep ruby with a small white head. The nose is caramel, bread, red berry and a touch of citrus. The taste is toast, red berry, caramel, leather, wood, citrus pith and a some plastic with a dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Smooth, but lacking in flavour. Very so-so.
