Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, as Driftwood Eponymous Ale
Deep blond color; creamy head. Nice aroma of fruity hops and white refined sugar, a bit earthy too. Dry mouthfeel, some malt, grassy, but also with traces of vegetables, leading to some final astringency; strong bitterness, also a bit minty; not a bad recipe, but probably not the best batch.

On tap at Darby’s, pours a light golden yellow. Light grainy aroma. Flavour of light fruits, nuts, and caramel malts. Pretty bland.

Orangey golden-amber. Woody cascadey aroma with slightly sticky crystal malts. Smells a lot like SNPA. Caramelly body with woody cascadey notes. Any floral element drops out late, leaving more caramel malt complexity. Good balanced beer.

Bottle - Light citrus and grass, pleasantly sweet. Clear light orange, light foamy white head. Nice hoppy and lightly bitter ale. Sessionable and very flavourful.

Bottle at Volo. Pours yellow with some white soapy head that takes its time to settle. The aroma is slightly hoppy. Taste is initially like a subtle ESB, but as being dilluted, the second glass does not build up substantial bitterenss. Towards the end of the bottle, some yeast makes an appearance. Lacey. The mouthfeel would be improved with less carbonation, please.

2011-03-23. Hazy orange body, smooth off-white head. 3+ Aroma is very perfumey and floral up front, floral lemon candy character, grassy, cotton candy, with a lemongrass transition, mild citrus hop character comes out as it warms. 6+ Flavour has modest hoppy bitterness throughout, citrus up from is overtaken by a weird floral sweetness, notes of cotton candy flavoured Jelly Belly candy at times, bitterness takes increased prominence as it warms. 6+ Average palate. Sort of enjoyable but the juxtaposition of flavours can be both intriguing and jarring depending on the sip. Unique. Bottle at Volo, Toronto

DuffMan (10451) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 21, 2010
Bottle. Slightly hazy golden, huge clingy, lasting white head. Aroma is initially a little sweaty, with citrus and sharp green elements (like fresh carrot tops). Flavour is citrus-kissed sweet pale malts with a nice rich earthy leafy hop finish, leaning toward marijuana in character. Really tasty. Finish is solidly bitter.

My Bottom Line:
This galant Golden Ale balances refreshing citrusy hops and slender pale malts in a wash of big bubbles and wooden, green hop bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A lofty head of foam decorates the misty amber-hued golden.
-The pale malt flavors are simply beautifully extracted and present from aroma to finish.
-That green wood note from the bittering hops last well after the initial sip is gone.
-This is a great summer brew, or year-round quencher for that matter. Since this is their flagship brew, I can’t wait to try the rest of the lineup!

Bottle. Thx Stephen!

Clear golden beer with a thin white head. Aroma is light and fruity initially with a touch of light pale malt. Fairly aromatic with a light cotton candy and perfumey sweetness. It initially shows a touch of diacetyl, but this settles down fairly quickly. Quite fruity with just a touch of light bitterness. There is a touch of light zesty hoppiness and a bit of lemon. Sort of a UK-style golden ale and reasonably tasty. Nice summer brew.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2011 [3656-20110323] Bottle. Fragrant lychee cardboard aroma has a lemony raspberry hint. Hazy, bright orange body with a quick foamy white head. Fruity raspberry-like tartness continues in the flavour with a muted citrus hint without the acidity. Medium body is fairly bubbly. Interesting, odd at first though. (6+/3/7/3/13+) 3.2
