COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crooked Coast is inspired by the original Alt-style beer of Dusseldorf; “Alt” is German for old and the style a vestige of the days before lager yeast was discovered, when ales were what German Brewers produced. A marriage of the aromas of both German noble hops and caramel Munich malt, this quintessential session beer is defined by its delicate malt-hop balance.

Malts: Pilsner, Dark Wheat, CaraMunich
Hops: Tettnanger

A darker version of an ale that was very enjoyable. Not my favourite style as I like a hop pier taste.

Rating #2680 - 2016.07.14 - Draught at @ntnl17. Clear ruby-mahogany pour foamy tan head, medium retention. Aroma is doughy, hints of pastry, butterscotch, and a mild piney note. Medium carbonation, crisp mouthfeel. Taste is dominant, toffee, caramel, and some noble hop grassy notes. Generously bittered for this style and this is not unwelcome in an otherwise crisp and balanced finish.

colui72 (1098) - HONG KONG - MAY 30, 2017
Quite clear amber, with a medium off-white head, not much lacing. Aroma is sweet, floral, fruity and malty. Tastes much drier than expected, with the Munich malts and yeasty funk that get over the fruitiness. Notes of peach, honey and caramel are still there. Light bodied and with flat carbonation, a bit flat, abrupt finish. Just all right for a session. Not much taste here.

Pours a copper color. Lots of toffee in the aroma. Taste is toffee and malty with lots of herbal flavours as well.

Bottle @cgarvieuk - The Xmas Tasting 2016. Pours copper with a white head. Nose is lovely, peaches, syrup, toffee, fudge/tablet, it smells really sweet but nice. Taste is overly sweet, toffee, way too sweet for me.

AgentAle (1809) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 5, 2016
Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, cereal and citrus. Relatively light overall. Taste is light sweet malts, passion fruit, citrus, melon and lemongrass. A slightly earthy and tarty hopiness prevails and is well balanced without dominating. Appearance is a hazy amber with a laced pearl head retains quite well.

Tap at the Black Frog in Vancouver BC. Pours dark Amber with a creamy beige head. Malty aroma. Med body. Flavor is mildly spicy and malty. Make that moderately spicy. Good alt IMHO.

Must be a bad bottle because this is not good. Aroma of caramel and dead cat. Less cat in the taste but that’s about best I can say for it.

allmyvinyl (10995) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 24, 2016
Bottle at the 2nd Annual Garvie Christmas Tasting. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of toffee, light saline. Taste is sweet, herbal, loads of toffee. Sweet finish. Dull.
