COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Four months in Kentucky Bourbon barrels has transformed this formidable Russian Imperial Stout to somewhere beyond the event horizon; the result is a beer of ’infinite density’ and compelling complexities. ABV initially 11.8%, was 14.6% too.

Thnx to Dr. Beer. Pours Black, not-so-stable off white, small head. Smell is roasted, complex dark sugars, mild coffee-like roasty undertone. Taste is mildly bitter, very burnt, roasty, very, very distant barrel features, they build up a bit as the beer warms up. Some bourbon, mild vanilla. Bit of oxidation.

22 ounces bottle, thanks Sergiy. Aroma: lots of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, light burned caramel, sugar can, molasses, licorice, subtle roastiness. Arpp: dark brown almost black, medium beige head leaving but not much retention and shy lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, lots of chocolate and bourbon in mouth, liquoreux a bit, subtle bitterness, alcohol finish. overall: Great RIS. RIS is not my favorite Imperial variant because of the molasses and anise but in this one the bourbon really took over this beer and covered well enough for my taste the licorice and molasses. Enjoyed it. Preferred it at 12C than warmer because the sugar can was getting a bit too much for my liking.

Pitch black pour, smaller brown head, minimal lacing. Lighter bourbon aroma, roasted malt, fudge, vanilla. Dark chocolate, lighter whiskey notes in the taste, vanilla, sweet, char. Thicker fuller body.

Totally oily black. No head. Smells like a marshmallow and vanilla pudding aroma. Very toasty with burnt oak and brownies. A bit of phenol finish. Toasty and crisp. Cocoa, vanilla. I get some banana and cream at the finish

Bottle vintage 2014 from a trade. Many thanks! Dark black colour, brown foam. Soft carbonation. Aroma of cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, bourbon, vanilla. Heavy, full body. Nice warming sipper.

Very nice impy stout! Pours dark black with crema coloured head that disappeared quickly. Nose is boozy with dark chocolate and cola. Mouthfeel is smooth. Flavour is bourbon, sweet dark malts, chocolate and a touch of bitter espresso. Well done driftwood 2012 version. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample @ RBWG Tampa Epic Hotel Share. Thanks to whoever brought this! Deep brown with a dark tan head. Sort of oily and viscous. Nose has a bit of soy. General char. Dark chocolate. Similar flavor. Skews earthy / roasty / dry over sweet. Cocoa. Mellow spiciness on the ashy finish. Full body. Oily. OK stuff, but not a standout for the style.

Dark cola colour. Aroma is hugely boozy, with bits of bourbon and cocoa. Taste is more balanced, featuring malt, smoke, and toffee.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2016 On tap at Alibi, 2016 release. Pours very dark brown, almost black with a brown head. Aroma and taste are slightly sweet, dark fruits, burnt malt, saddle, with some chocolate, cocoa and roasted sunflower seeds notes and some alcohol. Burnt malt with dark fruits and some bourbon, saddle, chocolate and smoky notes aftertaste. Very good balanced beer. Should become even better with aging.
