This traditional Belgian-style wheat ale is brewed with the addition of freshly-ground coriander and Curacao orange peel. Citrus and floral aromas outshine the hops and dominate the nose of this dry and quaffable beer, while the use of raw wheat adds cloudiness and enhances its mouthfeel.

Malts: Pilsner, Raw Wheat
Hops: Hallertauer

Bottle. Hazy, light pale yellow pour with a white head. Some soft citrus, a little yeast and bread, bubblegum. Pretty dry, nicely balanced. Quite a nice wit.

About two fingers of white head. Pretty pale yellow. Not as murky as most Wheat beers, you can see through this one. Could be mistaken for a light lager by appearance alone. Decent head retention and carbonation though.
Very subtle smell. Smells sweet but not that strong. Taste is also mild, semi-sweet, a bit citrusy. Nothing special, and unless it’s local for you, probably not worth picking up. It’s a decent beer though.

Orange coriander lemongrass are the three major flavours here. I wish they were stronger tasting, however. Quite fresh tasting at least. Good for that hot summer heat which Victoria never seems to get anyhow.

cmacklin (1333) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 5, 2017
On tap. Pours a cloudy gold with a thin, short lived, white head that fully dissipates. Sweet, spicy aroma of coriander, orange peel, lemon and wheat. Sweet, spicy flavour of wheat malt, orange peel, lemon and yeast with spicy coriander in a dry finish. Light body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation.

Un nez très plaisant, un peu de blé est un peu d’agrumes sucré. Le goût n’est pas trop complex, doux, mais unique. Un peu aigre, très bien équilibré.

650ml bottle from BC Liquor in West Vancouver. Pours a surprisingly clear very piss light yellow, high carbonation, thick white head. Aroma has some coriander but I don’t get the orange peel. More like a whiff of burnt hair. Taste is better; bubble gum, coriander, some citrus notes. Chewy mouthfeel. Decent finish. It grew on me.

pictoman (1231) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 30, 2014
Poured from the tap. Cloudy, very pale yellow with white head. Aroma of citrus and spice, light yeast. Same taste.

andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 2, 2013
Pours hazy pale yellow with a small-medium white head that slowly becomes a bit spotty. Aroma is honey notes, grainy, spicy wheat, and zesty orange. Flavour is honey characteristics, zesty orange, light lactic sourness, and spicy earthy touch.

HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - AUG 3, 2013
650ml bottle. Some coriander in the aroma, but not much in the taste. More of the bitter orange peel there. Overall, not that interesting, but not as offensive as I expected.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2015 On tap at Bitter Tasting Room in a 5 oz glass. My first witbier in years. A change in pace as well from a hoppy IPA minutes before. Very pale, a bit cloudy. Flavor is mild, lemony, faintly spicy. A nice summer beer!

Update June 4, 2015 at the John B Pub in Coquitlam. A decent though not remarkable wit, it nevertheless stands in very favourable contrast to the Kronenbourg Blanc I sampled moments before. 3.7.
