Pouring at the Hudson River Fest in Beacon. Pours a mostly clear amber with a thin white head. Soft malt, crackers and grain. Medium bodied, sweet and grainy. Malt, more grain and a soft bitterness into the finish. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2013
In short: A clean, smoothly-hoppy (fruity-leafy) golden ale. Good session beer.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Clear rust-color body topped by a small off-white head.
In long: Nose of low-medium intensity is leafy and orangy hops with light toasty notes, far from highly aromatic but pleasantly clean and fresh. Taste has oily cereals, light toastiness, low sweetness sensation, good amount of juicy leafy hops, fresh apricots, a bite in a juicy clementine, mild refreshing bitterness. This so-called ESB is very much Americanized, more like an APA to me, but whatever it really is, it was an enjoyable smooth session beer that can be enjoyed in very large quantities. I realized that the cool thing about being a famous ratebeerian is we can go to all kind of brewpubs and no one recognizes us because we’re not famous at all.
