Black pour with no head. Aroma has just a touch too much whiskey to it, but its a wonderful caramelly whiskey (Stranahan’s?) with lots of vanilla-y oak char and dark smokey maltiness. Taste is dark chocolaty sweet with a bit of smokiness and loads of sweet roasty caramel, whiskey, oak, vanilla, char, a bit more caramelly whiskey, and a sweet dark malty finish. Wonderful taste. zoucrew102 (1872) - - MAR 18, 2014
Tap at dry dock brewery Denver. Strong bourbon aroma with vanilla and dark fruit. Pours black with a thin, light brown head and not much lacing. This is a great beer. Roasted malt with sweet dark fruit flavors. Finishes quite smooth with strong bourbon with a hint of vanilla, which linger on the palate. Fantastic! drjay44 (3709) - Salida, Colorado, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Growler, shared with and thanks to Gabe. Pours a thin, poorly retained light mocha head, over a clear dark brown (SRM 35) body......nose is chocolate, plum, molasses, anis, vanilla, minimal hops.....taste is sweet, with heavy dried fruits including plum, cherry, raisin, chocolate, cocoa, minimal coffee, slight whiskey tones, very light bitterness on finish......mouth feel heavy, sticky, alcohol heat present, finish soft. This is an unbalanced Imperial Stout. It is very heavily sweet and needs more umami and the hop backbone is understated. It is closer to a Baltic Porter. (Draught) clear deep brown, very little head. Nose of big whiskey, dark chocolate, marshmallow, smells nice. Taste of raisin, overly sweet, very light roast, unique but doesn’t make it a great beer. A miss for me. arrogantb (1402) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 17, 2012
Hope this the right listing. Rackhouse just had it labeled as barrel aged imperial stout with vanilla
On cask at the Rackhouse Pub, this sounded like it would be really good, it was not. Black color, scan head, looks fine. The smell was cloying, syrupy vanilla, just ughh, not good at all. The taste was also more cloying vanilla, no barrel, no spirit, no stout, Cream soda and vanilla extract. I am seriously surprised this made it out of the brewery but hey people have different palates. This was a serious let down but at least it was pint night and I got a free Dry Dock hefe glass.

Tap. Pours opaque with a small, frothy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is oak, bourbon, raisins, figs and prunes with roast and chocolate malt and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with sweet fruity esters, light hops and bitterness, bourbon, vanilla and oak with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation. On Handpull at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish rown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, dark chocolate and light roastiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, bourbon, dark chocolate, vanilla and light roastiness with a smooth lingering chocolate bourbon finish.
