Tap at Falling Rock - menu stated it was 16% and I believe that over the currently listed abv because this was one serious beer - black pour with a sudsy, thick, dark tan head - creamy body and solid carbonation - intense flavors of tamarind, anise and bittersweet chocolate - sweetness is nicely tempered by bitter black malt and peppery alcohol - enough heat to make it a sipper, but not enough presence to make it boozy - astonishingly balanced but still intense and heavy. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 3, 2011
(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, graham crackers, coffee, and poblano peppers. Flavor of roasted malt, green peppers, chocolate, and cake batter. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2010
(Draught during GABF week at Falling Rock Taphouse) near black, excellent coating of the glass with a few dark tan bubbles. Nose is toasty graham cracker, dark chocolate, and herbs. Taste is syrupy sweet chocolate, alcohol and umami savoriness. Low carbonation, syrupy body, toasty and herbal linger.
