On tap at Hops and Pie poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Black pour with a generous light khaki head. Aroma was dark and roasty with some delicious fresh brewed coffee aroma, dark sweetness, and a gentle smoky roastiness. Flavor had a good amount of dark roasted cold toddy, dark roasty sweetness, and a little sweet twang that kinda sorta reminds me of BBQ sauce. Tap. Pours opaque with a medium, frothy tan head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is earthy coffee, roast malt, spicy hops, dark fruity esters. Flavor is malt forward with heavy coffee notes, dark fruity esters to support with light hops and bitterness, and a sweet finish. Dark brown, nearly black pour - tan head that mostly diminishes within a minute or so - nice whole coffee bean aroma, with background notes of milk chocolate and roast - flavor is quite sweet, with a lot of lactose character - a very strong acidity, most likely extracted from the coffee beans, is quite sharp through the middle - coffee flavor arrives late, for a lingering, espresso-like finish, along with a bit of chocolate - some flavors are quite nice, but that acidity through the middle nearly ruins it for me.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of nice thick espresso bean, roasted malts, chocolate and cocoa powder, hints of an earth and slight grassy note but just enough, slight caramel as well, lactose comes through slightly in the end. Taste is nice mix of espresso bean, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts with a nice lactose note sweetening into some caramel, finishing fairly bitter in the end, earthy. Tap @ brewery. Deep brown/black appearance with a medium sized brown head that has pretty good retention. Roasted coffee, toasted bready, more espresso, dark chocolate aroma. Somewhat bitter, coffee forward flavor at first followed by dark milk chocolate, vanilla, milk sugar, and roasted malts. This finishes fairly bitter with a milk chocolate aftertaste. Nice beer to have a pint of.
